I started writing emails to the White House again.

What’s different is now I feature comments made here on twitter by Ukrainians.

1. “I will never forgive @POTUS for creating an illusion of willingness to help Ukraine win without ever intending to.” .

2. “For the last 2 years whenever russia committed another atrocity I kept hoping that would be it, that the free world would say "Enough is enough" & stop the terrorist federation.
I was wrong.
But if humanity isn't aiming to stop such atrocities, then what is it aiming for?”

Who is Stephen Walt?

He teaches at Harvard and is a “realist” like John Mearshimer. He wrote an embarrassingly bad take on Ukraine in Foreign Policy this week. You can read excellent criticisms by smart people like Neil Abrams

Some thoughts about nuclear war 🧵
***You might not be in the right head space to read more about this at the moment. It’s fine to return to it later or just ignore it altogether. 1/ Nuclear war, threats, power, weapons and more have been in the news a lot this past year. Just the phrase ‘nuclear war’ is scary like ‘cancer’ or ‘climate change.’ Its easy to shy away from thinking about scary stuff.

This story is about a Russian mole arrested in December. He was a director of the cybersecurity department at the BND. The story is paywalled currently. Infiltration is not just a German issue. Image

Ivan Katchanovski is a political scientist at the Univ. of Ottawa. He writes a lot about Ukraine, far right groups, Maidan & Russia. You might see him in interviews or cited by leftist anti-Ukraine people. He wrote an article last month. I read it and include below some excerpts. These may be useful in refuting claims (if you like arguing with the tankies). In order to seem reasonable to their peers, academics often give both sides of an issue. To appeal to tankies he has more strident rhetoric. At the corner of reason & rhetoric is bonking ground.
