You must take a three month drug treatment program run by MTC before getting out on parole after a drug sentence. By law, these programs must include twenty hours a week of treatment provided by active staff. In practice, the first month is a series of quizzes on the rules.

In 2018, the NYPD named Terence Monahan—whose main credential was illegally arresting lawful protesters—to be the Chief of Department. Last night was the entirely predictable result.
Personnel is policy. Monahan’s specialty has always been arresting and detaining peaceful protesters. He oversaw the 2002 World Economic Forum response in New York – where demonstrators were kept in metal pens, essentially arrested the moment they showed up.
