🧵 There are several twitter accounts that like to attack violence prevention and policing alternative initiatives in DC when there is a shooting. Here is a thread on why these tweets are disingenuous and how to identify them: 1. If they blame gun violence on violence interrupters but don’t say anything about why police were unable to prevent it that is a red flag. Police work everywhere in DC and have significantly more resources and funding than prevention programs.

1/ Lets turn our anger at how @ChmnMendelson manipulates his role into process reforms he must comply with. An open thread:

1. Pass legislation that requires the Chairperson to publicly release a final budget at least 7 days before a vote can happen. No changes w/out amendments. 2/ Amendments to the budget must be circulated 3 days before the budget vote. Substitutions of entire budget as an amendment should be prohibited so he can't game the system.

1/ Long thread. Here are some data points on ANC great weight in Board of Zoning Adjustment cases, the board that decides if you can build up and back on your rowhome. This is important in our neighborhood if you believe you can fight developers. 2/ Specifically I wanted to know how the BZA has ruled in RF-1 cases. That means that the case needs to be a three-unit conversion at minimum though I am focusing on those with at least an 11' rear addition. 10' rear additions are allowed so I want to see cases requesting more.
