This evening, in a media interaction, I have raised issues pertaining to the Davos trip of Maharashtra’s unconstitutional CM and the industries minister.
The question remains of what was the real output of this outing, rather than being part of the serious business of the @wef 1) It’s evident that the CM reached late on the first day of Davos, despite chartering a plane at expense of the Govt (public money).
A whole working day was wasted and the Maharashtra pavilion was inaugurated late in the day.

Maharashtra is 51% urbanised, and this is growing. However, this needs to be channeled into sustainable development-oriented growth and “ease of living.” Taking this into consideration, on my request, UD Minister @mieknathshinde ji and I convened a meeting of Municipal Commissioners from across Maharashtra to present to them

Visited the ongoing work of the @mybmc for rainwater harvesting at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Udyan today along with Corporator Vishakha Raut ji and AC Kiran Dighavkar ji. ImageImage Around 35 wells have been created and a network of pipes to ensure that least water stagnates during monsoons. This will help us not only harvest rainwater but to maintain the grounds green and with lesser dust. ImageImage

Looking at the need for adequate vaccines to ensure that vaccination is swift & efficient, after discussing the issue with CM Uddhav Thackeray ji, as guardian minister of Mumbai, we have asked @mybmc to explore possibilities of global procurement of vaccines. (1/n) We are also working on a method to ensure that the non tech savvy citizens and those who can’t operate the CoWin app with ease, and for their access to vaccines in time. (2/n)

This evening I held a detailed review meet with City & Suburban Collectors, Municipal Commissioner, AMCs, DMCs, ACs of Mumbai for our covid response and management as we see an exponential rise in covid tests, cases and hospitalisation. The second wave is much stronger than 1st While our test, tracing, fumigation is on autopilot mode thanks to our frontline workers and Doctors, we are looking to increase the bed capacity once again to nearly 23,000 beds with enough oxygenated beds, likewise have an exponential increase in ICU beds.

Aarey saved- Thread.

We’ve received some of the best news for environment today for the entire year.

1)All charges against the satyagrahis protesting to save Aarey will be dropped.
They protested to save a forest, that wasn’t identified formally as one, but always one (1/n) 2) Almost 808 acres has been proposed to be declared as a reserve forest. Sec 4 of Indian Forest Act this week and after 9 months, it’ll be declared as Forest.
I don’t think any other city in the world, like ours, has declared 808 acres in its city limit as a forest. (2/n)

The decision of the HRD Ministry of Union Govt, and the UGC is absolutely absurd and probably from an alternate universe. I urge UGC to not make this a silly issue of egos and realise that lakhs of lives of students, teachers, non teaching staff are at stake. (1/n) Unless, the HRD Ministry and UGC take responsibility for the health of each student appearing for exams, one wonders what is the guarantee apart from just that the ministry and UGC don’t realise the growing number of cases in India.

Earlier today, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray ji presided over the commissioning ceremony of 4 field hospitals. These field hospitals adding a total of 3205 beds and 222 ICU/ acute care beds were added from Mulund, Dahisar, BKC and Mahalaxmi racecourse. (1/n) These jumbo facilities are state of the art and have all the necessary technical and medical requirements for any covid care hospital. It’s also probably the first time that negative pressure has been achieved in a hangar space for an ICU. (2/n)

Today as we mark world environment day 2020, I believe we must have realised what many voices have said in the past few years- how vulnerable the human race is, and realising on how strong a reaction from nature can be. Covid, Cyclones, locust. (1/n)
#WorldEnvironmentDay2020 What we also hopefully have noticed, is the things we missed out on, the things we forgot to notice, things we tried to destroy, in our fast paced lives that had no satisfaction as target. Greed had changed the definition of “development” for us. (2/n) #WorldEnvironmentDay2020

The current situation at Bandra Station, now dispersed or even the rioting in Surat is a result of the Union Govt not being able to take a call on arranging a way back home for migrant labour. They don’t want food or shelter, they want to go back home Right from the day the trains have been shut down, the State had requested trains to run for 24 hours more so that migrant labour could go back home.
CM Uddhav Thackeray ji raised this issue in the PM- CM Video Conf as well requesting a roadmap for migrant labour to reach home

1) Worli Koliwada (in my constituency) saw cases of covid in the last 72 hours, due to which the area was further sealed off and movement has been restricted for the safety of the dense population living in there. (1/n) index cases being traced, close contacts checked, 86 ppl in high risk zone have been shifted to quarantine in Poddar Hosp, Worli. This has been done for their safety the people they would have possibility interacted with. They will be provided with all care and other essentials
