A cautionary important thread on how the culture war mongers do their work.

The last week shows how Peter Dutton plans to win the next election, assisted by media who moonlight as the LNP PR machine, working in unison with a conservative lobby group funded by billionaires.

/1
If you want to see how these groups working together plan on manipulating your family and friends, this thread shows what they do, and importantly gives a taster of what is to come.

This is a look at the Woolworths 'story' this week, by zooming way out.

Caroline Marcus at SkyNews is doubling down having been accused of not disclosing the backstory of the man she interviewed who said he felt intimidated by a Palestinian Flag pin worn by a Qantas flight attendant.

Here's 2 parts of Caroline doubling down. You be the judge....

/1
Part 1. In her latest, Caroline says, "he is not a branch president of the (Liberal) party as I have seen claimed online".

Why doesn't Caroline elaborate on "as I have seen claimed online"?

There's a good reason.

I’m in the Lobby of the @apolloDimora Hotel in Calicut India.

I leave in 18 hrs. The Hotel says unless they receive hundreds of dollars more than the amount agreed and pre-paid, they will hold my possessions.

A story of failure by @qantas Hotels, @expedia and @ApolloDimora.

/1 Image How it started;

On 23 Sept, I booked for 12 Nights commencing 9 Nov at the @ApolloDimora Hotel via the @Qantas Hotels website.

This booking was paid in advance, in full, on a no-cancellation basis. I received a confirmation, a tax invoice and my credit card was charged.

Bernie Finn has been accused of harassing a Liberal party member online. The article doesn't say who.

Can we work it out?

1/ Image I'm reminded of the time a recording was leaked of a Liberal Party room meeting where Bernie Finn calls Tim Smith a f**king ididot.

I'm not sure if that's harassment, or truth.

Rachael is CEO of the innocuously named Catholic-linked think-tank 'Women's Forum Australia'.

Women's Forum Australia hold the position that teenagers should not have access to sex education, and oppose access to reproductive healthcare.

And they are connected. A thread....

/1 When looking at 'think-tanks' it's interesting to look at who else is involved.

Stephanie Bastiaan is a 'Research Fellow' (whatever that is) at Women's Forum Australia.

Stephanie might be familiar to you.

How’s the religious infiltration at the Vic Liberals progressing?

Scheduled for 2pm, a secret gathering is taking place in the Dandenongs.

An 'afternoon tea', hosted by Peter Killin, featuring newly minted MP, Renee Heath.

Familiar names?

Read on to remember why....

/1 Peter Killin was a Liberal candidate in the 2019 federal election.

But his homophobic views ended his candidacy.

They didn't end his Liberal Party membership though. And he'd soon find other ways to pursue his agenda.

Brittany Higgins, a Liberal staffer accuses Bruce Lerhmann, also a Liberal staffer of sexual assault in Liberal Minister Linda Reynolds' office.

Without explanation, the sofa in Linda Reynolds' office undergoes cleaning the following day.

1/
In relation to this, an inquiry to establish who knew what in PM Morrison's office by Phil Gaetjens, Secretary of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet is setup.

That report from Phil Gaetjens' inquiry still remains unreleased, which is a pattern for Gaetjens.

The @australian just ran an article by @Chambersgc and @jessmalcolm1, I suspect following instructions from @SenatorHume.

It demonstrates a lack of ethics at The Australian and an absence of integrity by Jane Hume.

Read on and I'll explain why this is so egregiously bad.

/1 Image The article seeks to create outrage by suggesting Dr Ryan is failing Kooyong by not attending the chamber for 6 divisions on Thursday.

So, why did Geoff and Jess consider this news but not mention that Jane Hume attended just 5 of 28 votes last week?

Greg Sheridan, as expected has written a glowing tribute to #Pell, in The Australian, of course.

It's an indulgent piece, afforded to Sheridan because he is Pell's friend and in a powerful position at The Australian. Let's drill down.

1/ Sheridan starts by regurgitating the idea that Pell is a victim of 'anti-Catholic Hysteria'.

Sheridan, like others never suggest why complainants, with zero to gain, would voluntarily subject themselves to examination by ruthless Barristers like Robert Richter.

Man of God? The Pell I knew failed kids. Some are now dead, some irreparably damaged, some living a destroyed life of unfulfilled potential.

This remains true no matter how much those like Andrew Bolt defend him and want to re-write history.

A thread of #Pell defenders.

/1 Tony Abbot, of course.

John Pesutto's inability to be the reformer the Victorian Liberal Party needs has been confirmed.

Hansard reveals the quiet announcement that Moira Deeming has been appointed Whip and Renee Heath Secretary of the Parliamentary Party.

1/ Moira Deeming, anti-abortion activist, transphobic, endorsed by the Australian Christian Lobby and Katherine Deves is the candidate the Liberal Party hid and silenced leading into this election. This thread touches on why. 👇

A difficult personal thread.

Thinking of 9 young girls who just learnt that the man they said sexually abused them would not face another trial meaning 10 remaining charges have been dropped.

A jury was discharged after failing to reach a unanimous verdict on the first 11.

1/
Those girls were under the age of 10 when the alleged abuse took place. They'd be teenagers now.

Those girls, all 9 of them, now live in the shadow of a 3 year binary criminal justice process that has ruled what they said happened, didn't happen. All Nine.

This thread is about connections, and shows how religious infiltration in the Victorian Liberals is pervasive.

It also reveals examples of positions that motivate the infiltration.

Let's start with Cynthia Watson, Liberal Candidate for Ringwood, and see where we end up.

1/13 In 2018, Cynthia was elected a Liberal Party Delegate, with husband Elliot. Both are Mormons.

They’re linked to Marcus Bastiaan’s ultra-conservative religious recruitment drive.

Maryke Rancie, anti-safe schools campaigner and Ivan Stratov, both Mormons were also elected.

Moira Deeming epitomises religious infiltration in the Victorian Liberals.

There's a lot missing from Moira's profile. Perhaps Liberal HQ can refer to this thread and add it?

Reportedly, Deeming has been banned from speaking to the media, so this thread can fill you in.

1/11 Moira's Liberal Party profile doesn't mention Moira was Secretary for anti-abortion group, 'March for the Babies'.

Listen to 19 seconds of Moira at their anti-abortion rally. Note who Moira thanks.

Deeming will vote to stop women accessing abortion.

This is a thread about technology and unfathomable stupidity by the Victorian Liberals.

When I was 14, my year 9 Business Studies teacher gave me a punishment consisting of writing 'I will not be disruptive in class' 400 times. I had until the following morning to complete.

1/9
I went home, typed out the line once on my Commodore Amiga, spent 30 seconds copying and pasting it 400 times, and smiled as the lines rapidly appeared on my Dot Matrix printer.

I handed in the printed document the following morning to my easily impressed teacher.

Q. What's the difference between Lyle Shelton's Christian Family First party and the Victorian Liberals?

A. Lyle and his party don't try to hide their bigotry, or disregard of science or their desire to forcefully impose a particular brand of religion on every Victorian.

1/4 As Lyle's Christian party announces the roll back on the ban on discredited and unfathomably cruel Gay Conversion therapy, it's worth remembering there are many in the Liberal National coalition who want to do this same.

Here's Tim Smith and Bernie Finn arguing about it.

I've been sitting on a document, unsure what to do with it.

I've decided to share it today.

I'm not prone to exaggeration, but if this document is true, it throws doubt on the legitimacy of Victorian Liberal candidates, and the party by extension. #springst

1/10 I'm sharing the document because I think everyone should know about it, but more importantly to encourage journalists to ask serious questions.

I'm told that Senior Liberals are familiar with this document, and if true, that's deeply troubling.

Queenslander Peter Dutton, in one of the most embarrassing moments in Australian Parliamentary history yelled out 'where's Yeppen?' in an attempt to mock and humiliate Anthony Albanese, thinking that Albanese couldn't pronounce 'Yeppoon'.

1/4
Dutton's gaffe was so embarrassing, that left to stand as it was, would've plagued him for the remainder of the term.

Liberal spin-masters acted quickly, and set about reframing, so, Albanese the bully was invented, and a press conference called.

Matthew Guy has just had a secret meeting with The Australian Christian Lobby, which is the same thing he did prior to the 2018 election.

In 2018, Matthew Guy promised to bring special religious education back to primary schools.

1/8 This was despite huge efforts by parents to get proselytising evangelical organisations like Access Ministries out of state schools.

In 2014, Access Ministries, the main provider of religious education in Vic, gave biblezines to students telling them homosexuality is a sin.
