Proud to serve independent abortion care providers and the allies who support them in providing care for people seeking abortion.

There’s a lot of confusion around the status of abortion clinics in different states. First & foremost: We deserve better, and no one should have to wonder if, where, how, or when they can get abortion care. BUT there are ways to get the info & support you need: 🧵
1/ If you need an abortion or want to support clinics: the most reliable information about whether a clinic is open & providing abortions will come from clinics themselves, from abortion funds, & from ineedanA.com@i_need_an_a

With gratitude and grace for everyone who wants to get involved and help people seeking abortions: PLEASE stop offering your home or spare room to strangers on the internet. There are lots of reasons not to AND lots of things you can do instead. 🧵
2/ There are safety & privacy concerns for YOU & for people seeking abortions (physical, digital + beyond). There are established networks who know how to do this work: plug in with them and do NOT go it alone. We wrote about this with @AbortionFunds: rewirenewsgroup.com/article/2022/0…

We’ve been on the frontline of ensuring abortion access and have been helping people get their abortions for decades. Here’s what you need to know as we await the SCOTUS decision.

Let's start by saying, independent abortion clinics & abortion funds are SO grateful for the outpouring of support in the wake of the devastating SCOTUS leak.
Thank you for plugging in & spreading the word that #AbortionIsStillLegal no matter where you live in the US. (2/12)

I can not believe I have to say this but: if you are a reporter covering #abortion, do NOT just show up to an abortion clinic. Especially not with a camera. This is a serious privacy and safety concern for both patients and providers.
2/ The people who work at abortion clinics are likely willing to talk to you, but you MUST call them first. In addition to the fact that they're actively caring for patients, providers receive serious threats & violence daily. Let them vet you, schedule your visit, & prepare.

We know you’re mad. We are mad. That’s why BIPOC leadership came together to organize a 50 state (+DC) rally & day of action. That’s why abortion providers are at work today, caring for patients. That’s why abortion funds are out here paying for abortions & building power. /1
Abortion is our human right and this is about our bodily autonomy. We have every right to be angry. We are being asked to find ways to express our righteous, justified outrage without hurting each other. /2

#IndiesProvide thread:
If you want to support, protect, or expand meaningful access to abortion in the U.S., you need to be supporting independent abortion clinics. Here's why:
If you have had or need an abortion, you're more likely to get care at an independent clinic.
