I just returned from the encampment at GWU, organized by hundreds of students from campuses across the DMV. Some initial thoughts: the students are more than all right. They’re teaching us another world is possible. As a teacher, I am in awe. Our students have done the reading. They’ve discussed the material thoroughly & in depth, both in class & outside. They are not regurgitating anyone’s lectures. They are not asking “will this be on the final exam?” They know diplomas are made of paper.
