1. My dad, Louis Zimmerman, passed away the week before last. It was very sudden and unexpected. I don’t post a lot of personal things on Twitter. But I wanted to say a few things about my dad's life and impact. 2. Dad was a network engineer whose work not only helped launch New York City’s 911 groundbreaking emergency dispatch system--which became a model for the nation--but he helped design and maintain the infrastructure for systems that formed the modern internet.

1. I study and frequently write about class actions. Putting aside Clemens undisclosed conflict in his letter—he apparently represented the losing plaintiffs in the class action he complains about—it was well-within KBJ’s discretion to reject *this* class action settlement.
2. Courts have a special duty to review class actions to ensure they are fair. This is because the parties who are represented in the case never directly participate. So, courts have the tough task of balancing a number of things when approving or rejecting a class settlement.
