PE ratio is the simply the payback period of your investment.
As an example, if you buy a 3000 Cr company ENTIRELY at 40 PE, you expect to recover the entire 3000 Cr paid upfront in 40 years through the profits of the company
Similarly, if you buy at 50 PE, the profits will recover the market cap in 50 years
