🧵 Punjab’s local governments have ended the five year term yesterday. It was a matter of great honor for me to be able to serve the citizens of Narowal; and to be a part of the historic struggle for restoration of elected local governments dissolved unconstitutionally. 1/7
Our tenure was interrupted but the struggle has ensured that LGs will have security of tenure. Despite the loss of precious time; I feel optimistic about the future of empowered local governments in Pakistan. It has graduated from an ‘idea’ to ‘inevitability’ stage. 2/7
