Ever since Oppenheimer came out, there's been a wave of genocide apologists claiming fewer people were ultimately killed via the bomb because the Japanese made clear they would never surrender

By this logic, if Germany had the bomb, a genocide of Great Britain would be justified Britain explicitly said "we will never surrender" in Churchill's "We will fight them on the beaches" speech

But no one would consider the possibility of Nazis nuking Britain an ethical thing to do or say it was Britain's fault for not surrendering

To do so about Japan is racism

This Pride Month is an excellent opportunity to educate clueless cis people to be trans allies.

Don't waste your time debating Terfs & letting them drive the direction of this battle in public consciousness. I've already seen a number of excellent educational or direct calls to action aimed at the general public from trans folks & allies who are smartly using the increased interest during Pride month to take control of the struggle for public support. Seize the moment.

To expand on this, the way Terf propaganda works is through dogwhistles & dressing up genocide under "reasonable" sounding language. That's how they convince the public to ignore, or even agree with their hate.

For example, instead of transphobia, they say "women's rights". So we NEED to educate people on the fact that they've been brainwashed.

Like 1 of my parents once told me they were worried about women's rights in the charity Stonewall & after some questioning turns out they meant Kathleen Stock & her transphobia but didn't realise.

You guys know that when someone hates on "people with she/they or people with he/they pronouns" that's just Non-Binary-phobia right? Like basically what's going on there is they're saying they are "real" trans people but she/they's or he/they's are "cis fakers"

This also comes with an assumption that she/they's are always AFAB & he/they's are always AMAB

Idk I'm actually fucking done with this shit. Shut up.

CW H*rry P*tter

I've been wondering: does Warner own the rights to make P*tter movies forever? And if so, do they not have a morality clause where they can just end their contract with JKR?

The decision to keep working with her despite it being a bad business move is weird. That's how they fired Justin Roiland from a show he created (correct decision). Through a morality clause in his contract

Like why work with someone who makes your life a nightmare & damages the IP's reputation?

Her defence of Nazi rallies alone should have ended any contracts.

This NEEDS to be SHARED everywhere.

People don't realise Daniel Radcliffe is actually doing something extraordinarily powerful in this video by refusing to engage with transphobes on their terms & using his platform to centre trans kids' stories & educate people directly We are always talking about how to be active in the fight against transphobia, instead of always playing defense.

One of the biggest issues is our complete lack of access to the media.

A massive A Lister doing real allyship with his platform is what we've been begging for!

Tbh I'm just so confused at what the fuck they're doing? From a marketing & PR perspective this is gonna be a fucking nightmare & could massively damage the WB brand & cause volatile negative press endlessly. What studio wants that? Disney fired James Gunn over ancient tweets!!!! Like normally a studio freaks the fuck out about ANY possibility of negative press

Remember when a few trolls didn't like the massively profitable Last Jedi? Disney changed the entire story in the next movie

How the fuck are WB gonna handle the hellstorm that'll accompany this?

Let me demonstrate one of the ways the news lies.

Most outlets claim Nazis "hijacked" the GC rally. PP invited anyone who opposes trans rights to attend. Some of the people who came to support her hate were Nazis. They didn't stop the GCs talking. So there was no hijacking. It's just factually wrong. They are part of the demographic she invited (anyone who is anti-trans). They showed up with anti-trans signs. It's completely ridiculous to act like they're a seperate unrelated group.

GCs aren't an organisation. They're random bigots aligned by hate.

When it comes to protests many journalists will say it's "unclear what happened" even though there's 100s of people talking about what happened with photographic evidence on social media & I'm unclear if this is a political decision to not do your job or if standards have fallen Like if I, a rando with no journalism degree, can go thru accounts on socials, find who seems reliable, message them & ask for clarification/details, corroborate that with other accounts

I feel like actual journalists could do this too rather than make shit up about trans people

Having counter protested KJK before this actually isn't the first time Nazis & violent men have showed up in EXPLICIT SUPPORT of KJK & "Let Wome!n Spea!k"

But the thing that disturbs me is how easily they claim those people "aren't one of us" & the media often just believe them Like I'm already seeing a lot of news outlets on Melbourne claiming the Nazis "hijacked" the protests or they weren't directly connected to KJK when some basic investigation will tell you they are on the GC team.

Like the media are literally lying.

Hey if you see someone who seems like they're being harrassed on public transport, go see if they're ok.

I just went up to someone and asked "do you know these guys?" & like magic they fucking disappeared.

Almost like they were deliberately targeting a woman on her own......... This is by no means the first time that I, a badass transexual, have scared off some men who were harassing someone

But according to transphobes I'M the threat to women's rights........................?

In light of a brown trans woman likely taking her own life after being manipulated to detransition by family I'm begging everyone to protect brown queers who are uniquely vulnerable to violence & manipulation if we come out & need special support & mutual aid

💔 Brown queers from south asian or middle eastern backgrounds who don't have supportive family can have these risks if we come out:

-forced arranged marriage
-tricked into another country to control us
-murder
-banishment from family
-hiring someone to manipulate or stalk us

I'm not aware of all the details because I don't live in the US but America is currently undergoing a scandal that is similar to what the UK formerly went through, where transphobic campaigners lied & claimed kids were being rushed through transition.

In the UK, this has been... In the UK this has been utterly proved false but horrendous damage was done in the meantime.

At one point there was 0 transition healthcare for anyone under 18.

It has also normalised an environment where your individual healthcare can be challenged in court by random strangers

Wild how people will tell me to shut up on twitter by saying "you should do activism in real life."

I literally go to protests & take practical concrete steps to improve trans rights

I write plays about trans issues that have literally educated hundreds of cis people

Have you? A lot of the time on twitter, I'm just talking. I don't really consider this activism

Though sometimes twitter CAN be activism if you

-organise protests
-spread awareness on an important issue
-debunk misinformation
-share petitions
-politically pressure a violent regime (Iran)

It's not the place of cis people to tell trans people not to engage in criticizing powerful bigots because you think it's a lost cause.

While the system is rigged, to an extent, many trans people who are huge forces for good in the community gained a platform by doing just this. For example, Munroe Bergdorf, one of the most extraordinary examples of trans excellence & positive activism (probably the best role model people never talk about on twitter because she's not a white edgelord streamer) originally got her platform for going up against Piers Morgan

It's worth noting the tactic with both refugees AND trans people is to call them rapists & pedophiles, either by making things up or taking the actions of a tiny minority & demonising the entire group.

That's how bigotry works. You may remember huge amounts of racism in the UK against brown people was once born out of the excuse that people were angry about "grooming gangs".

After which huge numbers of white racists tried to convince people all brown people are predators.

That's how racism works.

One of the biggest questions in trans activism is: how do you get the average cisgender person to care about the struggles of trans people & actually practically get involved to help?

At this time, most people don't actually care. At the moment, a lot of people won't even not buy a transphobic product if it inconveniences their fun.

So how will we get them to care about legislation, about medical gatekeeping & workplace discrimination?

Has anyone considered that a big part of the reason people are using the game to talk about trans rights

Is because if you talk about the bills, the lack of healthcare, no employment, housing discrimination & murder rates

Cis people literally ignore you. Like I've tried talking to people about this and they just look bored.

Me being in danger is boring to them.

The reason the discourse hurts more this week is it reveals in plain sight what many trans people already know.

That for many cis people allyship is in words only. It's not even really about the specifics of the discourse or THAT product anymore.

It's a painful display of thousands & thousands & thousands of cis people openly saying "I don't care about you. I do not want to help you survive your oppression in any way big or small."

I do find it very very interesting that the media are more interested in demonising trans people for spoiling a game than using the fact that many prominent figures in trans rights activism (not all obviously) are racist to dishonesty discredit us all. Like conversations about racism in online activism circles are very very rarely taken seriously.

But besides from the obvious MORAL fact that you shouldn't be racist (that no one seems to care about), there is huge potential for this to be weaponised by the media.
