Kanye has been going downhill since Yeezus and was covered so much more in that downward spiral because of who he was married to. Maybe one takeaway is that shining an enormous spotlight on someone in crisis doesn’t encourage them to become anything but abysmal. The fact that Fox News and the GOP lauded Kanye the moment he started being anti-Semitic is something we ought to focus on more. Maybe that as the GOP claims the left “hates Israel” someone should point out that the GOP hates the Jews that live right here in America.

There seems to be this belief in many newsrooms that having an identity makes you too subjective, when in reality it’s whiteness that does that. It’s how we have Meet the Press still trying to condescend to us as viewers that what happened on January 6th wasn’t the result of a political party leaning into extremism, but rather, just some wayward white folks who oopsy doopsy’d into a cult.

Everyone being online is the problem. This was never supposed to be a high school cafeteria. I think my existential crisis is that I always saw the internet as the way to build a portfolio of work and have it be seen by someone(s) who would gimme the real life work that could take me off the internet. But now everyone wants to be popular on the internet so I’m trapped.

I just think white progressives should value people of color’s joy. DREAMers and activists are exhaling for the first time in years. Families from Muslim ban countries are elated to reunite, but the most privileged white progressives are yelling over that to say why it’s bad. We all know it could be better. It could be more fair, but the point is to celebrate and champion progress. There is just a blindness to the privilege of not being affected by any of these massive executive actions and it’s embarrassing.

Can I say how wild it is having grown up in America as a Black person, reading history that I knew was a lie and the sins were whitewashed. Benevolent slavery and whatnot. And to have the entire democracy almost crumble because we all agreed to tell the truth about this place? And all that while being told by white people to “get over it,” “just drop it” and other cowardly shit, only to have the truth eating some racists up inside. They can’t live with themselves and where they come from and all their hate, so they try to overthrow the government.

Curious about the psychology of people who don’t have the willpower to stay at home vs. those who see the greater good and can. (Please do not talk to me about people forced to go to work in this. I know. That’s not what I’m talking about) Like it’s not easy for anybody to stay home forever. It’s not. Everyone is tired and lonely and confused, but some people can take it and some *have* to party or have dinner. Several times at restaurants.
