The first to....

•The first to compile a comprehensive Musnad of ahādīth from various regions was al-Imām Ahmad ibn Hanbal (d. 241 AH).

•The first to write a book on ahādīth related to rulings was Abū Dāwūd (d. 275 AH).

•The first to write on the sciences of Hadīth was Al-Ramahurmuzī (d. 360 AH), who was a student of the students of al-Imām Ahmad.

•The first to standardize the 7 Qirā’āt was Ibn Mujāhid (d. 324 AH),a student of ‘Abdullāh b. Ahmad. He didn't recite the Basmalah aloud in prayer.

Ibn ‘Aqīl al-Hanbalī:

If a person sees a snake in his house, he should command it to leave three times (that is because of the possibility that it may be a jinn), and if it reappears, he should kill the snake. Ahmad (رضي الله عنه) said: “If the snake was a Dhu al-Tufyatayn or an al-Abtar, it can be killed. The person does not need to command it to leave before killing such snakes.” Dhu al-Tufyatayn is a snake that has two black stripes on its back and al-Abtar is a short tailed snake.

Abū l-Hasan ‘Alī ibn Muhammad al-Basrī,the preacher and the Faqīh, said: Ahmad ibn Yahyā ibn Hyyān al-Raqqī narrated to us, He said:

Abū Abdullāh Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Hanbal was asked,and I was present,about the meaning of placing the right hand on the left hand during prayer.

He (Imām Ahmad) said, “It signifies submission and humility (before Allāh).”

Abū l-Hasan al-Masrī said,

‘According to my knowledge, there is no better explanation than this.’

Sheīkh al-Islām and the Awliya of Allah, Imām Abu Ismā’il Al-Harawi recounted the following story that took place during his lifetime:

When I came close to the city (of Rey), there was a man with me in the street from the people of the city. He asked me about my Madhhab/Creed. I replied that I was a Hanbali. The man replied that it was a creed that he had not heard of and that it was an innovation. He took me by my clothes and said he would not let go of me until he brought me to the Sheīkh, Abū Hātim.

Sheīkh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah Said:

"The astonishing thing is that these Theologian's (Mutakallimin), when evidence from the Qur'an and Hadīth is presented to them about the attributes, They say:

The Hanbalis have said that Allah is like this and like that,

which includes disapproval and promoting their falsehood.
The Hanbalis followed in the footsteps of the Salaf and followed their path, unlike others And Allāh is the one who grants success."

Reviving an abandoned sunnah.

An overwhelming majority of congregants these days will start to move towards sujūd the moment the imām starts to say the first letter in takbīr as he goes into sujūd. The sunnah is to actually wait until the imam has put his forehead on the ground, only then should the congregation start to move into sujūd, as shown in this video through the practice of Shaykh Ibn al-'Uthaymīn.

Sheikh Hammad al-Ansari's encounter with Maududi (The founder Of Jamma't Al Islam)

I visited Abul-A'la Al-Maududi along with some brothers during the course of his stay in Riyadh and he was in the hotel bat-haa' so we entered upon him and he was praying the 'Asr prayer, so I began observing his prayer. So when he finished I said to him:

This prayer of yours needs reviewing, for you do not raise your hands, nor do you relax (be at ease) and other than that'

So he said: 'I am Hanafi in Madhhab'

So I said to him: this is more

Imam Ibn Abi Hatim said: I heard Imam Abū Zurʿah say, “People still talk about Ahmad ibn Hanbal and They (The People) say that he is better than Yahyy ibn Ma’īn, Alī Ibn Al-Madīnī and Abū Khaythamah And this is true. I can’t think of anyone of his age who has more Knowledge of Fiqh or anyone who knows more than he does.”

Somebody Asked: “What about Ishāq ibn Rāhuwayh?”

Abu Zur'ah Replied: “Ahmad is more knowledgeable than Ishaq and I have seen the Scholars and none of them

When Ibn Qadi Al-Jabal (Student of Ibn Taymiyyah) silenced Taj al Subki with his good manners on his foul mouth.

Ibn Tulun mentioned:

Ibn Qadi al-Jabal had a strong relationship with Imam Ibn Al Qayyim al-Jawziyyah and Muhammad ibn Abd al-Hadi al-Maqdisi (Both are the close students of Sheikh Al Islam Ibn Taymiyyah), and he used to discuss issues with them. It was narrated that he met Taj Ud-Din al-Subki on one occasion, and al-Subki said to him:

Interesting facts about Hafidh Ibn Hajr, al Iraqi and al Haythami.

Hafidh Al-Iraqi was the teacher and the father in law of Al-Haythami (author of Majma’ al Zawa’id). al Iraqi married his daughter to al Haythami.

Both al-Haythami and al Iraqi were teachers of Ibn Hajr al asqalani (and also Taqi ud din al Maqrizi).

Al-Haythami And his wife never left the Night Prayer.

Hafidh Ibn Hajr Al Asqalani said :

I lived with them (Al Haythami and his wife) for a long time and never saw them abandoning Qiyam Al Layl.

Imam Sufyan Ath Thawri and the wisdom behind marrying a woman equal to your status.

Mansur ibn Sabiq said: An inhabitant of Basrah tried to convince Sufyan ath Thawri to get married. Sufyan’s simple reply was this: “Then find me someone to marry.”

Imam Ash-Shafi'i says:

قلت: الفصائل لا تفارق منزله

إن زارني فبفضله أو زرته فلفضله فالفضل في الحالين له

They (The people) said, ‘Ahmad visits you and you visit him often. I would say in Reply: “The Virtues never depart from his dwelling!

So If He (Ahmad) should visit me, Then this is by His virtue

But as for me if I should visit Him then it is also
by his virtue and Yet in both states The Virtue is for Him Towards Me.

An interaction with Al Khidr.

Bilāl Al-Khawwas said:

I was in one of the encampments of the children of Israel when a man came right upto me and this surprised me greatly and I felt that this was Al-Khidr.

I said to Him,By the truth of the One true God (Allah) “Who are you?” The man Said in reply “I am Your brother Al-Khidr.”

I then said, “I want to ask you a Question.”

He (Al-Khidr) replied:

“Ask Me What You Will.”

I then Asked, “So What do you Say of Ash Shafi’i ?”

He (Al Khidr) said:

“One of the Supporting Pillars Of The Religion.”

Ahlal Sunnah

Look How the sanad of the Hanbali madhab goes from Imam Ahmad back to the sahabah (رضي الله عنهم) and then to the Prophet.

So we see how the Hanbali madhab contains the madhab of the sahabah (thus refuting those who say why restrict Islam to four madhabs and not follow madhab of the sahabah):

1) Madhab of the sahabah of Madina: Madhab of Zayd Ibn Thabit & Ibn Umar > Nafi & Salim > Zuhri > Malik > Shafi’i > Imam Ahmad.

A discussion between Imam Ash Shafi’i and Muhammad Ibn Hassan Ash Shaybani:

Ibn Abi Hatim in his Manaqib Ash Shafi’i narrated from Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Abd al-Hakam who heard Imam Ash Shafi’i say: “Muhammad ibn al-Hasan Ash Shaybani (student of Abu Hanifah) said to me:

Which of them is more knowledgeable: our companion or your companion? I mean Imam Malik or Abu Hanifah?

I said: On the basis of fairness?

He (Shaybani) said: Yes.

Imām al-Bukhāri (رحمه الله) said:

❝I saw the Prophet ﷺ in my dream, and it was as if I was standing in front of him; and in my hand was a fan that I used to drive away harm from reaching him so I asked some interpreters and they replied: “You will drive away lies from him.” So this is what carried me to produce the Saḥīḥ (of al-Bukhāri).❞

I Want To Study The "RAJIH" (The Strongest Opinion)

We often see students asking their teachers to explain a fiqh text, which was written according to one of the four madhhabs, by giving them the "rajih" opinion for every issue. They claim that this way they are "not doing taqlid" and are "following the dalil." The teacher goes through the text saying " Imam Abu Hanifah took the opinion X, and the rajih in this issue is actually Y" for every issue that "goes against the rajih." The student finishes the text (which usually doesn't even happen!)

سئل الإمام مالك : عن صبي ابن سبع سنين جمع القرآن [ أي حفظه ] ؟ فقال : ما أرى هذا ينبغي .
قال الإمام أبو بكر الأبهري ( ت٣٧٥هـ) في شرحه لهذا الجواب : إنما كرهه مالك ؛ لأنه إذا تعلمه على هذه السرعة لم يحكم أخذه ، ويعرف[ حد]وده ، وسبيل من تعلم القرآن : أن يتعلمه ، ويتبين أحكامه وحدوده ، حسب طاقته ، والصبي لا يمكنه هذا في الأغلب . وقد كان أصحاب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يبقون في السورة الطويلة يتعلمونها ، ويتبينون ما فيها من الأحكام .
