Fascist ideologues’ core complaints revolve around language—free speech, censorship, political correctness, pronouns, academic theory like CRT, the definition of womanhood, “cis is a slur”—is not merely tactical…
It’s because they have no material concerns to complain about.
Tucker Carlson is a grown adult man talking to Ted Nugent about the gender of candy on national television, completely oblivious to how absurd and pathetic that is, because he hasn’t spared a single thought for how he was going to put food on the table even once in his life.

I don’t know if it’s a hot take, but Aaron Sorkin is so frustrating—to me—because he’s very talented, but his political ideology is just “respectability good”, which is neither very insightful or very radical. He frustrates me because it’s a shame, not because he’s a bad writer.
Which is why, despite it’s flaws, I really enjoyed Trial of the Chicago 7. It’s the one time Sorkin acknowledges that a principled leftist doesn’t NEED to be respectable to be right. He practically made Tom Hayden an author insert, then had Abbie Hoffman rip him a new asshole.

This is an absolutely wild interpretation of what I said. I don’t think you need to personally want, enjoy or have sex to understand that it’s dangerous when society treats it as obscene and taboo. Come the fuck on.
If anything, I am very careful with my wording, because I KNOW someone is going to weaponize ace people in my mentions every fucking time to justify “progressive” stances like “BDSM is rape”, “we’ll never get trans rights because of sluts like you” and “we should censor movies”

Dr Fatima (I don’t think she has a Twitter account) did a pretty great video on the demotion of Pluto to non-planet, and the cultural backlash to the changing science, and it’s fascinating to think about that reaction to a taxonomical redefinition as a trans person.
Because people got so weirdly invested in what we were going to call this hunk of rock whipping through space, even though it had literally no impact on their lives when you think about it.
So imagine if you can, how they’d react if you challenged the taxonomy of gender 🙃
