Well written, very well acted and generally well directed.
But the incessant music makes it feel like a 3-hour trailer, as if Nolan doesn't trust us enough to sit still for that long without bombarding our senses.
Göransson says there's 150 mins of music—a staggering amount, even for a 3-hour film.
Nolan clearly goes for intenseness, but if he'd take his foot off the gas every now & again, we'd have more space to connect emotionally with his characters, who sometimes lack dimensionality.
