Man Utd & VAR inconsistencies so far this season [Thread].

1. VAR/Ref deemed the defenders arm as tucked in and did not reward Man Utd a penalty for handball (1&2).

However when the exact same situation happened to Arsenal with the same player Romero it was handball (3).

#MUFC have a penalty given against them when ball is headed right into Eriksen’s arm from 30cm away and there is nothing he can do. (4)

2. Jonny Evans goal ruled out, as player in offside position obstructs the keeper (1). The keeper wouldn’t have saved it or got anywhere near the ball anyway.

Man City had a goal allowed for the exact same thing (2)

Palace goal vs Man Utd at weekend had 2 players in offside positions but VAR never looked at it (which is fair, but it’s the inconsistencies). (3)

#MUFC have been extensively scouting the midfield market with the long-term goal of signing two players to gradually replace Casemiro and Eriksen in the summer. Two standout prospects they have focused on are:

⚫️Oscar Zambrano (Described as next Caicedo)
⚫️Exequiel Palacios

Zambrano has earned comparisons to the next Moises Caicedo, with some in Ecuador even suggesting he is superior to Caicedo at the age of 19.

He primarily operates as a defensive midfielder in a two-man setup but possesses the qualities to excel as an (number 6 & 8).

Zambrano's passing abilities are nothing short of extraordinary, and I strongly recommend watching some footage of him in action. He ranks third globally for progressive passes per 90 minutes among players under the age of 23.

His comfort on the ball and his ability to execute line-breaking passes with ease, which is a weakness in Casemiro's game, are impressive. Currently, he averages over two key passes per game and three tackles.

Barcelona are also reportedly eyeing Zambrano as a potential long-term replacement for Sergio Busquets.

On the other hand, Palacios, whom I see more as an Eriksen replacement than a Casemiro replacement, has had a stellar season with Bayer Leverkusen.

He is another player known for his exceptional ball-handling skills and the ability to execute quick one-touch passes to bypass opponents' pressing. While it remains uncertain if he would excel as a lone defensive midfielder, in a double pivot role, he has shone.

While I believe that replacing Casemiro would ideally involve looking for a young defensive midfielder in the 21-25 age bracket, the prospect of bringing in a an understudy from South America alongside Palacios is appealing.

Their strong work ethic, athleticism, and technical prowess on the ball are qualities currently lacking in our midfield.

I think after missing out on Caicedo, it is obvious #mufc don’t want to make the same mistake again with someone like Zambrano.

However there seems to be mass interest in him, and with the board reluctant to invest in unknown players, I can see it being a Caicedo 2.0 situation😭
