I know we didn’t get close to all we wanted or needed in this deal, and we’ll keep fighting for ALL of it, but there are some truly transformational and important parts that we should celebrate. A thread: AFFORDABLE CARE: The most transformative investment in children and caregiving in generations, delivering:
•Two years of free preschool for more than six million children. The last time America added years of free schooling was more than 100 years ago.

This you @quinnemanuel? How do your clients feel about your decision to hire an architect of Trump’s barbarous family separation program?   The people behind this policy of cruelty weren't elected. They're not famous, but they should be. John Bash. Gene Hamilton. Ed O'Callaghan. They are the human faces of this cruelty. images.app.goo.gl/7fzD9KHw64v28E…

I’m going to show you some before/after pictures of what your lungs and heart look like from covid thanks to the innovative work being done by @drwilliamli and @Survivor_Corps.

I think it will help you, especially the deniers, to have a visual of the actual damage covid does. The left is a picture of a normal, healthy, heart. The right is picture is what happens to the blood vessels from #COVIDー19. In simple terms, the splintering of the blood vessels in the right picture is what makes oxygenation so difficult. Ok...read on for pictures of lungs.

1/ Last night, a reporter broke some information slightly incorrectly: they said military spending was in the COVID bill instead of the consolidated spending bill that contained it. As a result, I conveyed that part incorrectly. I’m sorry for that. But the larger points stand: 2/ The consolidated spending bill was all part of the same negotiations as the COVID relief bill. And the “relief” in that bill is entirely inadequate. $600 per person in a check. $25B in emergency rent relief. $300/week extended unemployment benefits. It’s nowhere near enough.

on #WomensEqualityDay, I'd like to remind you all the ways Trump has failed women and made life more dangerous for us and how Biden will be a champion for us.

A THREAD Trump has tried to rip away health care benefits & protections for millions of women. In
the middle of a pandemic, Trump is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to strike down Obamacare,
which would allow insurers to deny women coverage because of pregnancy or pre-existing
conditions.

A thread of all the things the Democratic Party has done to make the world a better place.

Let’s start here: 1920
19TH AMENDMENT: WOMEN'S SUFFRAGE
Under the leadership of Democratic President Woodrow Wilson, the U.S. Constitution was amended to grant women the right to vote. 1916 Woodrow Wilson (D) signs law establishing the National Park Service. #DemocratsHelpPeople

I’ve got a lot of words tonight. Care if I vent? First of all—whoever voted for Trump in 2016 and hasn’t seen the light in the last four years, is a complete mystery to me. He’s horrible and every day is a new low. It’s not too late to do what’s right.

I’m on a women’s agenda briefing call with the @JoeBiden team and WOW, wow, wow!

I will update this thread when I have a chance with some specific points but I’m very happy with how ambitious the Biden Women’s Platform is.

Ladies, this is your reminder to register to vote. 🦋 .@JoeBiden's Agenda for women is broken into five categories: 1. Improve economic security. He'll start by fighting for equal pay, investing in women-owned small businesses, expand access to education/training, and strengthening pay and benefits in careers filled by women.

1. What is happening with the #PortlandProtests should concern everyone. We are in a fight to save our democracy. People have been taking to the streets to protest against police brutality and systemic racism. Protestors are being abused for exercising their 1st amendment right. 2. Moms, dads, parents, kids, and more are chanting, singing, standing, marching, sitting, day after day and night after night to demand justice for the far too many Black lives taken by police. But their calls for change have only been met by even more brutality.

Checking in. How are you doing? For those who have asked: I’m ok. My tummy has been upset. It’s probably my anxiety. My kids break my heart. I miss my parents and my nephew. Not sure if I will ever work again. All I want to do is eat carbs. I thank god for my husband. My heart aches. I haven’t shaved in a month

Bernie supporters, a thread for you. I will continue to do what’s right for the people in this country no matter how you attack me. I’m tough. I’ve had 4 years of practice from MAGAs. I know all the tricks and you can’t silence me.

I supported Bernie in 2016.

Keep reading. In 2016, I felt Bernie was the right person for that moment in history. I still support and believe in many of the policies & ideals of the Sanders Campaign.

He has always fought for what is right and just. I know this. I love this about him.

1. McConnell’s bill is a $500,000,000,000.00 corporate slush fund that supremely benefits CEOs and the ultra rich — while LEAVING WORKERS, FAMILIES and CHILDREN OUT TO DRY.

A thread of specifics of why the McConnell Bill sucks. 2. McConnell’s bill has weak stock buyback language that can be waived by the Treasury Secretary; executive compensation limits only last for two years.

The bill provides little transparency of the lending done by Treasury (amount and to whom?)

The federal budget is supposed to be a statement of values.

And one look at Trump’s cuts of social programs would confirm what we always knew about him—he is cruel man and truly only cares about the richest in the country.

A thread breaking down Trump’s budget.

Read on. (1/8) Didn’t Trump just promise to protect families’ health care in his State of the Union address? Well, less than a week later the President is now slashing half a trillion dollars from Medicare, $900 billion from Medicaid, and cutting Social Security Disability Insurance. (2/8)
