May 23 , marks the 24th anniversary of the prisoner liberation from the infamous Khiam prison in southern Lebanon, occurring two days before the complete withdrawal of the IOF after over a decade of occupation.
A very short history:

Once an army barracks built by the French during its mandate in the 1930s, the site was converted into the prison in 1985 by the South Lebanese Army - ISR's proxy militia - with the horse stables becoming prison cells.

49 years since the outbreak of the Lebanese Civil War, yet as chaos continues, has it ended? Physically, perhaps. But emotionally & mentally, perhaps not. Lebanon emerged out of the war with several unresolved political problems, with some pre-dating the war itself.

This has been made clear by former militants who entered and fought in the war. The unfinished nature of the end of the civil war and the disconnect between local memory and national memory stems from the inadequacy of the ruling elite representing the Lebanese.

I have read posts online where people have generalised the experience of Palestinian children in this genocide will lead to the emergence of future militants. This does not sit well with me. I’m sorry,
but I reject this notion.

Yes, some may turn to militancy, & after the horrors they experienced, who could blame them? The tendency to stereotype & dehumanise an entire pop. based on the actions of a few is not only unjust but perpetuates a dangerous narrative that erases the individuality...
