I’ve spent months investigating those under control of state govs. They’re denied access to their money - even to pay for lawyers - have their homes and assets sold, medical decisions taken away from them, are shuttled into aged care and charged thousands in the process.
These guardianship and financial administration orders are supposed to protect the vulnerable but have turned into profit-generating machines. Across Australia, states manage $14.7 billion worth of assets with over 61,000 Australians under some aspect of state control.
