I've spoken to half a dozen LNP MPs who had no idea about the citizen 'referendum' policy Dutton is backing in who all think it is nuts - but that is not the point. None are willing to push back because party stability these days means blind obedience, not challenge. Dutton has always done this - floated horrendous 'ideas' -but he has always had a leader to push back and clean it up -Turnbull, and then Morrison. Now he's leader, there's no one to do the clean up. So the party goes along with it, even if they don't agree. That's modern 'unity'

You haven’t been able to put crosses on a referendum paper and have that ballot counted since 1988! This is not a new. It has not been put in place for the voice referendum. It’s because ❌ are ambiguous - some people use them to mark yes. Some no. So because it is unclear what someone means with a ❌ the rule for 30 years means those ballots are not valid. A ✅ is unambiguous. It universally means yes.
It’s been that ways for six referendums. Attempts to spin it as ‘rigging’ or ‘stealing’ the referendum are fk’d

The plan for how Commonwealth leaders react has been in place for years, set down by the Palace. It gets passed from governor-general to governor-general and prime minister to prime minister. Here is what happens next (Today is known as D day, tomorrow D+1 and so on) The parliament is suspended immediately and not returned for at least 15 days.
