There's virtually no recognition of the adaptive value of depression - that experiences of depression may be a sign that something is wrong & people can use these signs to their advantage.

I lost my brother to suicide & its no secret this motivates my passion to study suicide & depression.

But how common is self-relevant research (SRR; me-search) in clinical psychology?
