When Trump started leading the GOP primary, I thought it was because he understood ugliness PR better than the GOP; he took their bigoted dog whistles and turned them into bullhorns. I thought he just had a deep talent for the exploitation of rubes and zero shame. But watching and rewatching the clips from the Capitol attack changed my mind. What really makes the MAGA's love him is that he, in so many ways, is just like them, and it was only natural that chose him as their hero. Some shared traits:

Just saw Chuck Todd ask the Mississippi Gov. 2x if Joe Biden won fair & square & the Gov squished around it(“Biden is our president”), and Chuck didn’t follow with “isn’t your refusal to publicly acknowledge Biden’s win helping advance the big lie that caused Jan 6 violence?” Or- “If you truly want unity & political comity why would you continue to give oxygen to something so demonstrably dangerous that you know to be untrue,” or “are you so afraid of your own voters that you will keep the lie alive?” or “don’t you see that you’re the problem?”

I’ve been re-watching Game of Thrones, and it’s still very enjoyable, and unlike the first time I actually know what’s happening & who the hell they’re talking about most of the time. However, the actors that I wasn’t crazy about the first time now REALLY bug me Also, this time around I’m really having trouble with the whole raven-borne message delivery system. How the fuck could that possibly work? And it’s deeply pivotal to virtually every plot turn. “Strap this note to a raven and get it to Ser Diddlesby, wherever he is.” “Okey-doke.”

I keep thinking that not only did Biden win, he won it against (1) an incumbent who (2) engaged in a massive voter suppression campaign by, among other things, (3) actively discouraging mail-in voting and (4) sabotaging mail delivery,... (5) who recieved substantial verifiable foreign assistance, (6) was beneficiary of many red states' election chicanery, (7) engaged in and incited voter intimidation, (8) created a SCOTUS with the goal of deciding a contested election in his favor,

My car hit 5K miles & found out that nobody could work on it because the dealership I leased from had installed an aftermarket device in control panel. ??? Turns out it was gps unit “in case someone stops making payments.” Is this a common thing now? Because that’s fucked up I’m like Tony Soprano over here

Still sometimes can’t get over how one of the 2 major US political parties’ official strategy to win this election is to aggressively steal the right to vote from probably 100s of thousands of people. No policy rethinking, no outreach, just steal voting rights. That’s their plan. Those running the GOP now know that the will of the American people is against them, so they’re just going to thwart the will of the American people. This is what they are pouring the effort of their full organization into. It was a conscious party-wide choice.

Do you all know that grocery store rotisserie chickens mainly exist to be made into soup? You eat whatever meat you want off of it for your first meal, then remove whatever meat is left on it and save it in the fridge. Then you take the carcass and all the juices in the package (and all the bones from the pieces you’ve eaten) and put it in a soup pot.

I’m going to vote for Elizabeth Warren in the primary. I will happily vote for her or Bernie Sanders in the general (less happily for the others), but I prefer her bc I think she is better positioned to execute the progressive policies that this country desperately needs. 1/8 Because of the CFPB and her legislative record, I think she’ll be the most effective at executing progressive policies, especially in light of Sanders’ unwillingness to abolish the filibuster. Two more kids were shot to death in their school today. And a chorus of voices from the ppl who support those who profit from the proliferation of guns will go up today to say “don’t politicize the tragedy.” But it is political power that allows these tragedies to continue. 1/6 My kids carry 2 psychological burdens that I didn’t have.
1. a fear that they will die in their school from gun violence
2. a pervasive sense of hopelessness that every aspiration they have is pointless because the planet will become largely uninhabitable in their lifetimes 2/6

My whole feed rn is all ppl who loved Brody. I knew Brody, but not as well as I know depression, and I can guess that Brody knew how much he was loved, and by how many people, and it still didn’t stop him. Depression is a fucking killer. Don’t ever underestimate it. Get help now.

“I’m gonna show that I’m not afraid to mock this upsetting thing that most ppl don’t find funny” is not brave. It’s not hilarious because it offends some people. It’s a FORMULA, and an increasingly lazy one. I don’t spend a lot of time judging the quality of other’s comedy (it mostly just comes off as adolescent & insecure). My taste isn’t the law. People like what they like. What do I care? Some comedy sucks. What do I care?

As a white, when I hear a statement about whites, before I choose to call it “racism,” I ask myself the following:

Does the statement represent a real history of, or (non-laughable) future potential for:

1. the murder of me or my family
2. the threat of bodily harm

Cont’d 3. another human beings’ legal ownership of me or my family
4. decreased employment opportunity
5. an economic system rigged against me
6. an inferior education for my kids
7. being widely perceived as having a propensity for criminality

Cont’d

Man, Google is great. Using it, I just found out these facts:
1. Immigrants, both documented and undocumented, are more law-abiding than US citizens

This country has always been a struggle between two sides: the loftiness of our ideals of freedom and equality, and the ugliness of racism that has been exploited for profit, control, and the maintenance of a status quo. Pick the side you’re on. For instance, how can one believe in “all men are created equal” and also support an LE culture that allows black ppl to be 250% more likely to be killed by police than whites?

Some people will still try to dismiss any attempt at gun control using the statistic that most gun deaths are suicides, which is true. But what's not true is the implication that there's nothing that gun control can do to prevent people from killing themselves.
1/7
The reason that there are so many gun suicides is because guns are so effective at killing, and they're so widely available. A suicide attempted with a gun is almost always a successful suicide. 2/7

I was just stopped at the red light next to Providence High School here in Burbank, and there was a large group of kids out protesting for #NationalWalkoutDay, holding signs and chanting, and my reaction surprised me. The driver next to me & I both tooted our horns in support, and as we smiled at each other I registered what it was they were chanting: “Less Guns. More Kids.”

Oh really? Well “go fuck yourself” is a directive. Quote-responding to this tweet may seem like shooting fish in a barrel, & yet it is 30 mins later & I have pulled over after school drop-off to respond further because I am angry.

“WHAT ABOUT CHICAGO?” regurgitates every gun loving NRA puppet, even though this “point” is easily debunked. So ONE MORE TIME: Yes, CHI has strict gun laws, but most CHI crime guns come from out of state. cityofchicago.org/content/dam/ci…
