Many still fail to grasp why the Supreme Court blocked a referendum on Scottish independence.
1. It wasn't because it was a referendum. It was because of what a particular ref result would force/cause - regardless of whether Wesrmin recognised/agreed with referendum
2. The Supreme Court recognised a referendum, even if unwanted by Westminster, could still force its hand into accepting independence regardless, due to the "authority" the result would carry in a "culture founded on democracy". i.e Westminster would have to recognise it.
