Vietnam Military History Museum is gearing up for the grand opening so everything from the layout to the exhibits gets a lot of coverage in the press. Let's check out some of the more "exciting" shots.
To commemorate the 70th Anniversary of Battle of Dien Bien Phu (7 May, 1954 - 7 May, 2024), Vietnam's government and military have decided to hold a parade. Here is a list of stuff from that parade that I find "interesting".
1/"Flyby"
Mi-8/17 helicopters of Vietnam People Air Force flying over the parade. They carry the national as well as the party flags.

While T-90S/SK is not the same as T-72B3 (the competition vehicle), it still gives Vietnam Tank Biathlon team the chance to get used to modern systems.

Personnel of Vietnam People Air Force inspecting a couple of ready-to-scramble Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21 in 1971. Interesting loadout for interception: Two infrared homing Vympel K-13 (AA-2 "Atoll") and two beam riding Kaliningrad K-5 (AA-1 "Alkali").
As the performance of Alkali is "less than ideal", MiG-21 pilots of the Air Force scored most of their kills with Atoll.

From this angle, we have a good view of the top-mounted DShK, coaxial SGMT, L-2 "Luna" infrared spotlight and OU-3 IR searchlight.
On a side note: See these hooks? The designer put them there to carry OPVT snorkel. However, in Vietnam, armor units never receive the snorkel so the hooks don't see any use.

Interesting footage of DN2000-class KN-491 of Vietnam Fisheries Resources Surveillance putting its bow thruster to work as it leaves the dock. Thanks to the bow thruster, KN-491 could turn without relying on its main propulsion.
Being one of the most capable assets of VFRS, KN-491 is responsible for quite a few tasks from patrolling Vietnam's EEZ to bringing delegations to Vietnam-occupied features in Spratly Islands.

"A clash of steel"
Tank crews of Vietnam People Army participating in Good Tank Crew. The competition consists of traditional drills and localized categories of Tank Biathlon, Army Game (Russia).
In Good Tank Crew, the contestants compete on T-54/55 and PT-76. While T-54M and T-90SK/SK show up, they don't get to do anything. Still, their presence suggests that compared to the last decade, the Army is a bit more open about its assets nowadays.

USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71)'s visit to Danang
1/ The latest pictures of USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and USS Bunker Hill (CG-52) in Danang.
CG-52 is now docked at Tien Sa Port while CVN-71 must be moored outside because of its huge size.
From here on, visitors could board CG-52 at the dock but to get into CVN-71, people have to sign up for seats in one of the Grumman C-2A Greyhounds parked at Đà Nẵng airport.
