In response to a growing dental emergency, I have been following a dental bus which has been visiting food banks in Newcastle.
People can’t access an NHS dentist and going private is out of the question. If something's wrong they have to live in pain, as I told @BBCBreakfast...
There's a big drive to reach the young - with free check-ups offered to all children. One of those is 5-year-old River who has missed school because of toothache. Within hours of her tooth removal she was back home, happy and showing me her dolls house.

Valya, 17, from Ukraine applied to live with a sponsor family in the UK so she could be safe. Her parents can't come because they have to care for vulnerable relatives. Valya's sponsor family have a room waiting (pic), a school place confirmed and say they'll cover all costs.
Valya said goodbye to her family seven weeks ago - not knowing when she would see them again - and moved into what she thought would be a temporary location before coming to the UK. But her UK visa has been put on hold and she's been there ever since. This was her Sunday night.
