BREAKING: Queensland will reopen at 1am on 13 December as we move towards the 80% vaccination milestone earlier than expected.

Nominating a time and date for reopening gives everyone certainty to book flights and accommodation and make plans to visit loved ones. Fully vaccinated travellers can arrive from interstate hotspots by road or air without quarantine, but must test negative to COVID-19 in the previous 72 hours.

All arrivals, regardless of vaccination status, must get another COVID-19 test on day 5 after arriving in Queensland.

Last week we announced that employees at some of Queensland’s largest food distribution centres would be able to get vaccinated at work. I’m happy to report the vaccination blitz is underway - hundreds of workers have already been vaccinated at Australian Country Choice’s meat processing plant.

No community transmission overnight 🍩

Keep staying safe, Queensland 👏 Since June this year, there have been 16 separate COVID-19 clusters in Queensland. That’s 16 potential outbreaks that we have faced and contained.

Queensland's vaccine rollout continues to ramp up 💉👏

136,000 extra Pfizer doses are set to start arriving in Queensland this week, ready to roll out across the state with a focus on Brisbane’s south, Caboolture, the Gold Coast, Townsville and border communities. Image To make it easier to access vaccinations, we're extending hours, making more appointments available, and opening new community vaccination locations.

There are very concerning reports about an incident in an aged care facility in Brisbane.

The Federal Government is responsible for the roll-out of the vaccine in aged care and they’re using private contractors to deliver it. I am advised that two elderly residents were administered up to four times the prescribed dose of the vaccine by a privately contracted doctor.

Once again we find ourselves battling this dreadful pandemic.

As if the usual strain wasn’t bad enough, now there’s a new one and it’s made Brisbane its first Australian battleground. There is only one thing we know for sure about the UK version: it’s even more contagious.

That is why I ordered this lockdown.
