The following 🧵from Alex Smith @Alexand74195770, who resigned from USAID over Gaza, details the errors 1. The claim that "1.6 million tons of food" entered Gaza "between October 2023 & September 2025" cannot be verified by any credible source

Side note: when someone measures the amount of food entering in "tons" and not truckloads (the measure used by @UNOCHA, @SavetheChildren & every other aid agency) it's an immediate red flag, because tho these numbers sound big, in reality the aid is poorly distributed & intentionally sufficient.

What is taking place in Gaza is not a war...

The news stories emerging daily from Gaza are not about pitched battles between the IDF & Hamas

Instead, they are about the latest large-scale killing [of Palestinians] by Israel

Civilians are killed largely with airstrikes but also more recently through getting shot while seeking ever-scarcer food.
