Some folks didn't get the significance of me presenting the news with my dreadlocks.
In my lifetime, TV was a place where the BBC, a public funding media, paid David Baddiel to do racist Blackface whilst mocking footballer Jason Lee's locks.
This dehumanised all black people 1/4 More than "Just a joke".
A racist stereotype was broadcast across the uk. Influencing public perception- How many Black people walked into school, job interviews, meetings... with people that had laughed & internalised this 'joke'. How did they view black people after watching?
