For the last 10 years or so, I have live tweeted the events of September 11, 2001, sharing my perspective of what I saw standing at President Bush’s side for much of the day.
When I started sharing photos and recollections of 9/11, I never realized the chord it would strike.
Each year I did it, I was struck by the reaction it created. History and first-hand witness accounts are essential parts of keeping memories alive, especially on a day as important and moving as 9/11.

Here’s the case why Garland and Wray will resign in disgrace or get impeached by a GOP Congress:
Garland is under huge pressure from Democrats. The 1/6 hearings have amped up groups that demand Trump be tried for a crime. Any crime.
Garland knows that Hillary wasn’t charged with a crime for having top secret info on her personal server at her house.
The National Archives has made clear that Trump is in violation of the Presidential Records Act. After negotiating w Trump officials, the talks broke down.

I have said the raid will end in either Trump's indictment because the DoJ found what it was looking for, or in the resignation of disgraced FBI Director Wray and AG Garland. There is no in between ground.
Here is the case for indictment:
This is not about routine National Archives presidential records. It's about Codeword or Top Secret documents Trump took with him upon leaving the WH.

The WH says Biden didn't know about Mar-A-Lago search warrant.
But Biden has a history here. He told ABC News in May 2020 that he "knew nothing" about a DoJ investigation into Trump's NSA Advisor Michael Flynn. Written records show that wasn't true.
According to FBI notes, Biden himself in an Oval Office meeting on 1/5/17 with Pres. Obama and Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates brought up the Logan Act, in an apparent suggestion to Yates that Flynn could be prosecuted.

Here’s why the FBI raid - absent a finding that puts former President Trump behind bars - is so damaging:
1) Most governmental institutions are already not trusted by the American people. This raid contributes to mistrust of the FBI.
2) It leads to mistrust of DoJ/the courts. Remember, 2 of the 4 court-approved warrants again Carter Page were found to be invalid.
3) Trump has been subject to numerous probes, all of which turned out empty. If the FBI didn’t find the goods yesterday, add this to the list.

President George W. Bush's first news conference was on 2/22/01. It lasted 30 minutes, was held in the press briefing room, and he took 23 questions, including numerous follow-ups. (Plus an argument w Helen Thomas.)
I look forward to watching Biden's first news conference.
Here are topics that the Biden press corps should have asked about during the campaign, but won't come up now - even though they're legitimate stories:
A.) Hunter Biden's conflicts of interest
B.) Joe Biden's role in investigation Michael Flynn.
C.) Tare Reade questions

MSM should treat Biden’s “w/o evidence” statements the same as they treat Trump’s. Yesterday, he said, “Christmas is going to be a lot harder. I don’t want to scare anybody here, but understand the facts — we’re likely to lose another 250,000 people dead between now and January.”
As @jimgeraghty points out, “The US suffered about 3000 deaths from the coronavirus yesterday. There are 27 days left in this awful year. If we lose 3000 people per day for 27 days, we will see 81,000 deaths. That will be terrible, but that will not be “another 250,000 by Jan.”

After a lifetime of hearing that voter fraud is real, it seems to me that this is the perfect opportunity to find out if that’s true - or not. Even if the margin is too big to turn around the election, it’s worth a full and deep dive to learn whether or not there is cheating.
In Philly, for example, did 5 dead people vote? 50? 500? 5000?? We should all want to find out, not just for Pres. Trump’s sake, but for all future elections, national and local. The media should see this as a perfect test case to dig into something - and inform the public.

Want to see a bad poll and know how they did it? This NYT poll slashed the number of Rs surveyed. In 2016, Ds were 36% of the electorate and Rs 33%. This poll has Ds at 39% and Rs just 28%. Liberals in 2016 made up 26% of the voters; in this poll, liberals are 35%.

Harris a fake, empty-suit. She accused Biden of being a segregationalist, but then agrees to run with him. Either she faked her allegation against Biden, or she's faking now.
She faked her position in favor of Medicare for all, until it became upopular. Then she opposed it.
She produced a fake, edited video about what Brett Kavanaugh said about birth-control. She got caught faking Brett's statements.

Every once in a while, long-hold views of the Democrats and Republicans genuinely shift. So it is with which party represents the rich. It used to be the Rs. It’s increasingly becoming the Ds, as shown by the D attempt to restore the SALT deduction. wsj.com/articles/the-l…
Ds want rich people to get an unlimited deduction for all their state and local taxes paid, in addition to raising how much they can deduct for mortgages on expensive homes. Rs capped it at $10k in 2017.

12 states will attempt new voting procedures in 2020. All are risking doing harm to the integrity of the election if things go wrong, as they did in the June NY primary, where the surge in mail voting led to 25% of the ballots being rejected in one race. The normal rate is 1%.
CA, DC, VT and NV will for the first time mail actual ballots to all voters. It took WA years to do this right. These 4 states are rushing to get it done. It is fraught with risk, especially if an election is close and ballot harvesting is allowed.

My thoughts on POTUS resuming briefings:
1. It's a mistake. That room is a hot spot. Too many reporters don't want info- they want a fight. 2. Don't give them a fight. 3. When reporters taunt, rise above. 4. Talk personally. Show you care.
5. Be specific about what the Fed government is doing. 6. Get out of the room within 30 minutes. 7. Do NOT do these things daily. 8. It would be far better for POTUS to travel the country showing what the government has done rather than spending time in the briefing room.

Pres. Trump needs to change course on how he is approaching the Coronavirus crisis. It’s the number one issue in the country and he needs to be at the heart of the government response.
When FEMA sends resources, Trump should send them off with a speech.
When HHS sends medical teams, Trump, should send them off with a speech.
When HHS moves medicines to hard hit regions, Trump should watch the loaded trucks pull out and give a speech.

In addition to opposing mob violence, there's another reason statues of our founding fathers, including those who owned slaves, should not be abolished.
They were Enlightenment thinkers who, w one sentence, changed the course of mankind.
"All men are created equal," they wrote.
At a time when France, England, Spain and virtually all of Europe were led by monarchs whose authority came from God, men were not created equal. There were lords, peasants and differing classes of people everywhere, including slaves.

The NYT has a three-part problem:
The first is the revenue it derives from its digital readers.
The second is who NYT readers are.
The third, as @bariweiss described, derives from the changing definition younger journalists have for what journalism is supposed to be.
In '17, Times editor @JillAbramson wrote, "Every time I hear [Trump] tweet about the 'failing @nytimes' or use the shopworn sobriquet 'fake news,' I also hear the ka-ching of the so-called 'Trump bump'. She's admitting Trump's attacks on the press are driving readers to the NYT

If the news is bad, put it on the front page. When bad news turns good, bury it. This is one of journalism’s weaknesses. Yesterday’s 1300 point stock market gain, the largest by number in history, is not front page news in the NYT or WP.
The WP went long on the bad news and short on the good:

A few thoughts on the Bolton excerpts:
1) The leak likely came from the permanent NSC bureaucracy, meaning lawyers who deal with whether information is classified, who likely don’t like Trump.
2) The leak is problematic for POTUS. It contradicts him and is contrary to his lawyer’s argument in the Senate about critics, who had no evidence, but instead “presumed” a connection between aid and an investigation.

Conspiracy theory? My NYT-labeled “conspiracy theory” tweet re why Speaker Pelosi delayed sending impeachment to the Sen is more plausible than the Speaker’s own words. Everyone knows she had no leverage over McConnell. So why do it? To help Biden. nytimes.com/2020/01/17/us/…
But you can tell a lot about the media by the words and labels they use. They didn't give Pelosi much of a challenge over her given reason - they yielded to it and instead derided those who found fault in Pelosi's stated reason as engaging in "conspiracy theories."
