As part of the initiative "#everynamecounts – Local Remembrance" we would like to introduce you to the Förderverein “Mahn- und Gedenkstätte Walpersberg” e.V. (Walpersberg Memorial Association), our partner for tomorrow’s takeover. @OnlineRemember In mid-April 1944 the Thuringia Gauleiter Fritz Sauckel gave the order to construct near #Kahla a massive underground production site, called the “#REIMAHG”. Between April 1944 and March 1945, more than 12.000 people from all over occupied Europe, were deported to Kahla.

So quite early on, in 1950 or thereabouts, employees of the International Tracing Service started to do their own research.
