The NYC Police Foundation (a group of rich plutocrats who funnel money to NYPD) is holding a gala today. So far there’s a small group of protesters & an army of NYPD cops putting up barricades everywhere. Cops are making the protesters go almost a block away from the entrance. On the way to this protest, I spotted NYPD Sgt Ahmed Abdalla (badge #: 2823) in uniform talking on the phone & smoking a cigarette. You can see him trying to hide it. That definitely goes against the NYPD Patrol Guide. Will he get disciplined for this? Let’s see. But I doubt it.

I just got to Brooklyn Museum where pro-Palestine have made a stop during a march. Lots of NYPD cops in helmets & batons here to surveil and repress the protest. Protesters just dropped a banner saying “Free Palestine, Divest from genocide” from the top of the museum. The connection sucks for me around here so my tweets are posting late. Lots of arrests though. Protesters are still outside Brooklyn Museum.

I just got to the Gaza Solidarity Encampment at NYU. Looks like cops put up barricades around the encampment. People are here outside the barricades to show solidarity with the students. NYU students demand that NYU divest from Israel, close NYU Tel Aviv, & get cops off campus.

NYPD cop Anthony Smith (badge #: 23039) is here spying on protesters outside of NYU’s Gaza Solidarity Encampment.

Anarchists in NYC redecorated multiple Chase banks near Wall Street yesterday for its investments in Israeli weapons company Elbit Systems.

“Funder of genocide”, “Drop Elbit”, & “Free Gaza” were written in blood red paint, & the doors were chained & sealed shut with spray foam.

Chase Bank is the 6th largest stockholder in Elbit Systems. Even though NYPD tried to quickly take off the chains & foam & open the doors, much of the blood red paint still remains.

Here’s some more pics that were sent to me:

Three Nationwide Insurance locations in NY were redecorated with red paint & #StopCopCity art & had their doors spray foamed shut today by autonomous community members who demanded that Nationwide cut ties with the Atlanta Police Foundation & cease insuring the Cop City Project. An anti-imperialist anti-colonialist actionist group in NYC dropped a banner reading "Gaza" & "فلسطين " in blood red letters from the highest level of the George Washington Bridge on Monday.

NYPD Lt. Ben Kurian, one of the 2 cops who harassed & attacked migrant men in Times Square, once brutalized off-duty cop Larry Jackson & choked him w/ a baton.

The lawsuit cost NYC $5million.

Kurian was never disciplined for it. Instead, he was promoted. nbcnewyork.com/news/local/cop… "According to a federal civil rights complaint, Lt. Ben Kurian, the cop seen on bodycam video wrestling with a migrant who was resisting arrest on a Times Square sidewalk, was once part of a group of officers accused of beating and choking a man in his own home back in 2011."

#FreePalestine protesters marched in NYC yesterday for a #MLKDay March for Healthcare. There was a gaggle of pro-Israel (& pro-NYPD of course) trolls at Union Square where protesters were rallying. Lots of cops surrounded them to guard them. Protesters heckled the trolls.

There's A LOT of BS & copaganda in this article, but one good thing in it is that NYPD cops both young & old say that all the protests have been physically wearing them out & making them want to quit or go be cops somewhere else.

So keep the protests going!
“We’ve been working an average of about 13 to 14 hours a day with a lot of the protests happening in the city,” he said. “Enough is enough. I’ll have maybe one day off for the week and I’m so tired from work I don’t want to do anything.” The job is taking a similar toll on young cops. A 28-year-old Queens cop who also asked for anonymity has four years with the NYPD said “the job is unbearable now” and he’s “looking to leave sooner than later.” The fascist NY Post is just doing copaganda for the fascist NY cop union. They're crying over cops resigning & retiring when NYPD has long had a huge headcount & needs to actively FIRE more cops. NYPD is literally larger than the next 3 big city police departments COMBINED.
A total of 2,516 NYPD cops have left so far this year, the fourth highest number in the past decade and 43% more than the 1,750 who hightailed it in 2018, before the pandemic and crime spikes hit the city, NYPD pension data show. The number of cops quitting before they reach the 20 years required to receive their full pensions also skyrocketed from 509 in 2020 to 1,040 so far this year — an alarming 104% increase, the data show. The years of departures and lack of replacements are now taking a toll, forcing the cops who remain on the job to work “inhumane amounts of forced overtime,” Poli...

Legal Aid Society released lists naming the 10 NYPD cops with the most lawsuits filed against them over the last decade & the 10 involved in the highest legal settlements.

All the cops named are still working as cops, & many have even been promoted. nydailynews.com/2023/09/25/rep… "One NYPD cop was part of a foot chase that left a 17-year-old boy paralyzed and cost the city $12 million but remains on the job. A second, known as “Bullethead,” has been sued 48 times costing taxpayers more than $1 million but was promoted anyway."

NYC's useless, pro-cop Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) will now let NYPD cops accused of misconduct to watch all video that could come up before being questioned by CCRB investigators. This will basically help cops avoid getting caught lying. gothamist.com/news/nypd-offi… "Officers are already able to view police body camera footage before their interviews with the Civilian Complaint Review Board, which investigates allegations of excessive force, offensive language, racial profiling and several other types of misconduct."

This NY Post article's headline claims "Injuries on NYPD officers up 32%" & almost all of the article whines about cops' injuries.

Injuries on NYPD officers ...Injuries to subjects, at th... Keep in mind that the bar for what constitutes an injury for cops is likely very low (they often go to hospitals for ringing ears after they shoot someone!) while the bar for what constitutes an injury for civilians is likely much higher too.

An unknown person in the Bronx allegedly fired a few shots at NYPD cops.
