A lot of people just don’t understand the scale of Twitter. It’s not the 6k posts per second. It’s propagating that data to millions of users in an instant. Capturing every impression, every click, like, RT, etc., seamlessly.
Plus search. Spam/abuse. Security. Authentication. All of this built on physical hardware that’s constantly failing. That may not sound impressive now that anyone can offload the responsibility to AWS, but there wasn’t some off-the-shelf solution when Twitter was built.

I recently tried to find a new CAR tourniquet for a stop-the-bleed kit. I had to give up on Amazon because the results were flooded with dozens of counterfeit or knockoff listings.
Even if I bought from the correct tourniquet listing, Amazon has serious problems with commingled inventory. Check out the reviews on any Sandisk flash card for an example. But at least a counterfeit SD card won’t kill someone. ems1.com/ems-products/m…
