Our @tomfarrey has written about Norway’s inspiring sport system, which prioritizes fun. Now, see it for yourself on @RealSportsHBO. New episode features interviews by reporter Jon Frankel from “country that takes virtually everything we do here in the US, and does the opposite.” “Youth sport in (US) is a runaway train driven by the marketplace, entrepreneurs, and the fears of parents that their kids are going to be left behind. In Norway ... they are not trying to professionalize kids when they are 6, 8 and 10.” —@TomFarrey on @RealSportsHBO

Is CTE the next asbestos? That's the fear for an evaporating insurance market that threatens football, according to @SteveFainaru and @markfwespn. The NFL and major colleges will survive. We'll see on some high schools and the youth game. espn.com/espn/story/_/i… Pop Warner executive director Jon Butler: "If insurance goes away, it's not going to be just football. It's going to be all of youth sports. I think it would be the proverbial domino effect." This is hyperbolic talk. Other youth sports don't carry the same risks as football.
