Ms Tina has revealed that Beyoncé decided to make #BlackIsKing when she heard the story of Solomon Linda, the S. African composer of Lion Sleeps Tonight who received no credit from Disney. She decided to fix that injustice and show the beauty of Africa from the eyes of Africans. The only song in Black Is King that was in The Lion King is this song, but instead of using Disney's "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", she uses Solomon's original "Mbube" and credits it as such, meaning that Solomon's children receive the royalties. I love Beyoncé so much 😭😭
