1.6 trillion metric tons of carbon dioxide have been released into the atmosphere.
If we value each ton at a realistic $100, that's a potential $160T market to reverse climate change.
One company is building a fascinating business to do just that. This is their story. 1/
In 2021, the @gcarbonproject predicted we'd reach 36.4 gigatons of emissions (just off the pre-pandemic historic high).
According to the @IPCC_CH by 2050, we need to reduce that number close to zero AND be removing 10 gigatons of CO2 from the atmosphere each year. 2/

It's a personal news day for me...
After 5 years with @ConvertKit, I'm retiring from my role as COO tomorrow.
This is a change I've considered for several months & one that my long-time friend and CEO @nathanbarry is on the same page about.
We've grown from $3.5M to $28.5M ARR while creating a mission-driven culture of belonging, psychological safety, and helping people realize their potential.
To celebrate the wonderful company we've built, I thought I'd share some of the lessons learned along the way.

Meaning is a word that has officially lost all meaning.
And yet, deep down we all know we want more meaning in our lives. The alternative is hedonism rooted in a fear of death.
Here are my 8 principles for what makes work meaningful from 10 years at work across 4 companies👇🏽
1. Solve an important problem.
If you can optimize for only one thing, optimize for solving a problem that makes the world unequivocally better.
My day job is running a software company, but my identity as a creator is still deeply tied to being a writer.
Even in my role, much of the value I provide is through clear written and verbal communication (which starts with writing as well).
But I wasn’t always a writer.
In fact, I mostly hated writing until my last semester of my senior year of college.
That semester, I took a break from my dual majors in accounting and finance. I took a leap and decided to study abroad with my then girlfriend, now wife, @_nicolebrooks1.

1/ In times of uncertainty like these, I always turn to voices I trust to reassure me, guide me, and help me through with an even, steady mindset. People like @mikiebarb@kristatippett @brainpicker@ThisIsSethsBlog are who I turn to for grounding.
2/ It's easy to get lost in anxiety, worry, fear, and doubt when it's so abundantly clear we don't know what's to come.
That anxious energy needs a place to go. It needs something to do. Something to believe in. Something to refocus on.

We're doing quite a bit of hiring (for us) @convertkit, which means I've gotten the chance to observe the process in quite a bit of detail while working with our hiring managers. This is a thread on what I'm seeing, which I hope will be valuable if you're looking for a role.
1. Hiring always takes me back to the days of running my first business - Living for Monday. It makes me want to help people find jobs more easily. So these are a few observations and thoughts on getting hired at great companies like ConvertKit.
