The Turkish state has always wanted to annihilate the Kurds in all four parts of Kurdistan. During the Saddam Hussein era, western allies implemented a no-fly zone in North Iraq (South Kurdistan) and South Iraq to protect the Kurds and the Shittes, respectively. 1/6 The Turkish state requested to fly over the N. Iraq airspace under the guise of protecting the Kurds, where in fact the Turks wanted to bomb & kill Kurdish civilians.
