It’s was just another ordinary November day. I was brand new on midnights, just a few months off FTO. I was still adjusting to being a cop, being on midnights, and figuring out my coworkers. I was fortunate that the midnights were, and still are, the tightest group.

I came in to work today feeling good. I had two much needed days off from work where I did absolutely nothing, ate good, and rested. My body was rested, my mind recalibrated, and my spirit high. I was ready for whatever this shift had in store for me.

Today, something happened that bothered me to my core. The girl who works at the front desk of my gym is an absolute sweetheart. She’s genuinely just a pure hearted person who always has the biggest smile on her face and goes out of her way to be friendly and welcoming.

Today I received a call that someone dropped their medication and needed help picking them up. Yes. An actual call. I rolled my eyes and thought “you CANT be serious?” I arrive, pissed off as ever, and ready to see who the fuck had the audacity to call. What i saw humbled me.
It was a quadriplegic who was confined to a bed. He had lost both of his legs and his arms were basically dead weight too. The look of embarrassment on his face said it all. The medication was legitimately a few inches from his grasp. He starts by sighing and saying “believe me,
