COVID mutation in Ventura County: per a statement by the county this afternoon, "A second COVID-19 mutation has been detected in Ventura County. An Oxnard sewage study result revealed the presence of a second mutation in a small amount of the COVID virus present in the sample. 1/
... Oxnard has been testing samples of its wastewater on a weekly basis for a number of weeks. The new mutation was identified as N501Y. It is present in both the United Kingdom and South African variants." 2/

I had a chance this afternoon to speak with Councilmember Ed Jones about his comments last night about apartment renters vs. home owners. Jones, who is known for walking precints while running for office, said at last night's council meeting that apartment renters . . . 1/
... as a group tend to not be registered to vote or as civically engaged as home owners. Councilmember Al Adam chastised Jones for implying renters are second-class citizens. 2/

The Thousand Oaks City Council is now considering a residential development proposal at 500 Thousand Oaks Blvd. This is the first of the new "pre-screens" since the council changed the process.
The prescreen basically provides developers a general go-ahead for a project seeking some of the housing units in the "bank."

Court has just begun in the County vs. Godspeak hearing. I'll be tweeting here in case you want to follow along. Today Pastor McCoy will have to answer why he shouldn't be held in contempt for violating a restraining order prohibiting him from holding services.
The county is also asking the judge to have the sheriff's office close the Godspeak property.
