I still think there's a decent chance that one or two fixtures will be moved to FA Cup R4 weekend.

I think PL fixtures moving FA Cup R4 weekend would be added to GW23 if they're announced tomorrow, but they might be added to GW24 if they're announced after the GW23 deadline. Image They're announcing rearranged fixtures with less notice this season - probably because games keep getting postponed so later announcements allow more leeway.

Last Friday, only one fixture could move to R4 weekend but now two fixtures can move there:
BUR vs WAT and LEE vs AVL.

It's the 2nd Round of the EFL Cup this midweek.

Here's a short thread on how the EFL Cup could affect the Premier League schedule and cause Blank and Double Gameweeks. The EFL Cup Final clashes with Gameweek 27

A maximum of two GW27 fixtures could be postponed due to the EFL Cup Final, and those postponements will definitely become Blanks if both teams involved in a GW27 postponement reach the FA Cup 5th Rd (which is in the midweek after GW27)

These are the teams who I think are most likely to get a Double GW in GW26:
Man City vs WHU + (WOL/eve/SOU)
Spurs vs BUR + (SOU/avl/ful)
Liverpool vs shu+CHE
Chelsea vs MUN+liv
Man Utd vs che+cry
Leicester vs ARS+bur
Crystal Palace vs FUL+MUN
Burnley vs tot+lei
(cont.d) More teams who I think are likely to get a Double GW in GW26:
Southampton vs eve + (tot/lee/mci)
Aston Villa vs lee + (shu/TOT/EVE)
Everton vs (MCI/avl/wba)

If you've already used your WC/FH then you're probably struggling to decide on a chip strategy to deal with GWs 18+19

If you have all you chips then the obvious* strategy is:
WC - GW16
FH - GW18
BB - GW19

*(this might not be an obvious strategy if GW1/11 Blanks move to GW18/19) You'll be able to make a more informed decision on chip strategy if you're aware of what kind of Blank and Double GW schedule is likely the second half of the season.

This isn't going to be a normal end to the season; we're not guaranteed big Double Gameweek in GW37.

I might consider saving my FH for DGW26 if both GW1 Blanks are moved to GW 18/19.

Later this evening, I'll try and predict what the Blank and Double GW schedule might look like if the bookies favourites were to reach the FA Cup QFs/SF/Final & EFL Cup Final. I did this exercise earlier and made a predicted schedule which had 7 Blank fixtures in GW29 due to all the favourites reaching the FA Cup QFs, which caused a big DGW in GW26

The next predicted schedule I make will have 5 Blank fixtures in GW29 as that's the most common outcome.

If you've already used your first WC then it's worth saving your FT this week if you can.

They might be waiting to see what happens in the EFL Cup QFs next week, and then if Man Utd win their QF at Everton they would be under more pressure to move BUR vs MUN to Jan 13th (GW18). I'm not exactly sure what the deal is with the winter break/split midweek.

The TV contract might dictate that Sky and BT get to show every game in the split midweek in a unique timeslot, which would block BUR vs MUN from moving to Jan 13th.

The chip strategy I'm following is:
WC1 - GW16
FH - BGW18
BB - DGW19

TC - saving it for another DGW
WC2 - planning on using it to rebuild my team after BGW29

Here's the FPL schedule up to GW29 (which clashes with the FA Cup QFs): I think the strategy I'm following is best if you still have all your chips (although you may want to WC before GW16 if you're unhappy with your current team).

But there's no one-size-fits-all strategy for people who have already used their Wildcard or Free Hit.

Here's the updated GW 16-22 schedule after the PL announced which fixtures have been moved from BGW18 to DGW19.

The schedule might change again:
There's space for the GW 1+11 Blanks to move to GW18/19, and they could also move to GW17 if neither side reaches the EFL Cup QFs. It might be the case that they're unwilling to move a postponement to GW 18/19 because they want to let all 20 teams have a mini winter break

One the other hand, they might want to reschedule the GW 1/11 Blanks as soon as possible and are waiting to see if GW17 will be free.

I need to update my Blank & Double Gameweek twitter moment ⚡️

I'm posting some general tweets about the schedule in this thread and then I'll add them to my moment.
twitter.com/i/events/82144… Here's the schedule for the rest of the season:

There are 3 Blanks from GWs 1 + 11 that still need to be rescheduled.

4-6 GW18 Blanks will move to DGW19.

The FA Cup QFs will cause Blanks in GW29 but we can't be sure which GW they'll move to - they'll probably be spread out.

If you need a *BIG* speech from me then that's probably a sign that you should hit that WC button.

The WC will be useful in GW16, but it's likely to be more useful to you now if your team is in really bad shape. If you WC before the GW 18/19 fixtures are announced then you might chose to use your 2nd Wildcard in GW17 and Free Hit in GW18 - but then you'd have to navigate the final 3rd of the season without a team-changing chip (WC/FH).

I haven't tweeted much about chip strategy recently...

You don't need to commit to a chip strategy until next week, when we'll have a lot more clarity on the Blank and Double Gameweek schedule.

Here's what we'll learn before the Gameweek 27 deadline: We'll know which teams will Blank in GW31.

We'll have a good idea of which teams will Double in GW32 (or the DGW32 fixtures could even be confirmed before the deadline next Friday).

We'll have more clarity on the potential Blanks in GW33 and the potential the Doubles in GW35.
