The outrage being manifested by the right wing press and pro Israel groups at the " news" that @PSCupdates notified @metpoliceuk by 1 pm on Oct 7 that we intended to march on Oct 14th is a classic example of the dehumanising of Palestinians and invisibilising of their oppression. The question being asked is " What possible reason could the largest organisation in Europe campaigning for Palestinian rights have had to think it might want
to march on Oct 14: remembering that the Police can ban march if a weeks notice has not been given.

With nearly all votes counted there seem to be some key messages from this election:
1. Despite the spin Labour leadership will put on it, the mammoth landslide is due to collapse of Tory vote, rise in Reform vote and SNP collapse. It's not an embrace of the policy agenda. 2. Labour vote share is up about 2% from 2019 across Britain and unchanged in England. Given the Brexit domination of 2019, the real comparator in terms of embrace of policy agenda is 2017. Labour vote share is down 6% from then and in actual votes, down 3 Million.

Today's " march against antisemitism" is being framed as an anti-racist march and undoubtedly will be reported as such by much of the media. The truth is it is a march against Palestinian rights and pro the maintenance of Israel's system of apartheid. It's organisers have a track record of egregious anti Palestinian racism and Islamophobia. Despite them saying Tommy Robinson is not welcome, there is a reason why he will attend, feels at home in such company and has previously been cheered by the crowds at pro Israel rallies.

Some thoughts on the march yesterday:

1) Even by police estimates this was one of the largest 3 marches in British history. We believe there were at least 800k there and we know many coaches got stuck in traffic and didn't reach the start. 2) As with previous marches, this one was overwhelmingly peaceful,as reflected in the number of arrests ( I understand less than 10) and the live reports from media many of which accurately described the family atmosphere.

Rebecca Tuck's report on antisemitism in @nusuk, released today is as bad as feared in endorsing the conflation of antisemitism with legitimate advocacy for Palestinian rights. Once @nusuk bowed to what it saw as existential pressure from the govt. to investigate allegations of antisemitism this was the only outcome likely, given that the charges of antisemitism were almost all rooted in discourse about Palestinian rights. Here are some key takeaways:

A lot is being made of BBC being ranked as 3rd on @simonwiesenthal annual list of worlds most antisemitic incidents. Here's some context. In previous years the Centre has listed the UN passing motions critical of Israel in its top ten list. In 2015 the EU correctly labelling... .... goods from illegal Israeli settlements made it to number 3. AirBnb delisting properties on Israeli settlements made top 10 in 2018. Who has never made it onto list? Victor Orban even after his grotesque antisemitic election campaign in 2017. Donald Trump's track record of..

@Keir_Starmer's speech to @_LFI was as bad as anyone with their ears open for the last 2 years would have predicted. Contemptuous of international law and human rights, underpinned by a wholesale  disregard for Palestinians, our history and collective rights. It drew on racist anti palestinian tropes about Israel being founded in an empty land,in wilful denial of the Nakba, happily delivered in the presence of the virulent racist Tzipi Hotovely who one presumed was nodding enthusiastically. He condemns BDS for singling out Israel

1/6 so......after @YoungLabourUK being told they couldn't have a @PSCupdates speaker at their meeting, after @YoungLabourUK stood resolute, principled and strong, after @PSCupdates intervention,Labour back down and apologise. We will be glad to be at the @YoungLabourUK event.... 2/6 The situation was absurd but tied up hours of my time. All because a senior Labour official believed advocating for BDS might contravene IHRA definition. This is how the delegitimisation campaign works. Pressure bodies to adopt a definition of antisemitism that conflates it...
