1000s of displaced people had taken refuge to live on the hospital grounds, as areas around hospital had been bombed.

Long🧵 about my good friend Dr. Hammam Alloh, killed by #Israel in November 2023.

I first met Hammam in 2015: He was a brilliant young doctor in #Gaza, when I was on my annual visit to teach at the Islamic University of Gaza.

We chatted about his children.

He'd always greet me with a big hug-such kindness and warmth.
