Many yet to clock that this is Cold War 2 with all elements of US policy now directed at containing and confronting the rise of China.
‘Make America Great Again’ means shifting USA from a consumption based economy to a production based economy (as in WWII). 1/n
Trump sees tariffs as the ideal tool to achieve this policy aim because they are a tax on consumption of imported goods that provides a subsidy to domestic production. 2/n
