while abolitionist in intent." Let me point out some poor arguments contained herein 🧵

What @llianagordan describes here does not exist. The intention of abolitionism is inherently immediatist. The ideal Christian political engagement on abortion is an unyielding call for the end of legal abortion and political punishment of anyone who does not fall into line, especially with the goal of moving Republicans toward consistency on their stated convictions. Otherwise, as we have already seen for decades under Roe, we will simply be met with an unending series of compromises if we become comfortable with regulationism. The pro-life movement is already falling into this trap under Dobbs.

The legislation passed by the pro-life movement is typically useless garbage.

To demonstrate, let's walk through a pro-life bill @SpeakerJohnson championed during his time in the Louisiana State House… House Bill 1081, the "Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act," was signed in 2016. The law does not allow a doctor to "dismember a living unborn child and extract him or her one piece at a time from the uterus."

This week we will see how @NIH funded a study that made "non-human animals" with "chimeric brains." Recall that @drmoore, @edstetzer, and @RickWarren, as well as @CTmagazine, platformed or continue to platform Collins as a faithful Christian despite the atrocities @NIH bankrolled under his watch. Last week I noted how Francis Collins, former @NIH director and friend of the evangelical elite, defended fetal tissue research as his agency funded the grafting of baby scalps to rodents.

They also funded a study that examined bacteria inside corpses of freshly aborted babies: Last week @CTmagazine ran a piece from Collins about his friendship with @timkellernyc. As @megbasham has reported, men like @DavidAFrench and @drmoore remain friends with Collins, who is a professing Christian. Collins also pushed lockdown propaganda in evangelical circles.

Francis Collins served as director of the @NIH. He claims to be a Christian but oversaw hundreds of millions of dollars in human fetal tissue research.

Yet he is still welcomed with open arms by evangelical elites. Consider one especially horrendous experiment his agency funded: @CTmagazine ran a piece yesterday by Collins about his friendship with deceased minister @timkellernyc. Collins is also counted as a personal friend by @drmoore. But these men never question Collins about the atrocities over which he has presided.

John Barros is a largely silent hero in American Christianity, spending the last two decades quietly saving more than 3,000 babies from abortion.
