Organized sports is an analogue for war. We have a buncha rules, and regulations, and doctors. We wear safety gear and pump “sportsmanship” really hard, but let’s call a spade a spade…it’s a way to channel human aggression.

A brief exchange with someone on X has inspired me to write a thread about Children’s fiction. How it has softened over time, I believe, to our children’s detriment.
Generations prior to Millenials were submerged in a fictional world of despair, death, hard-choices, and self-sacrifice. Sometimes, the good characters died, and no magic fairy was there to bring them back.
