Spent the evening trying to make an algorithmic avatar generator to replace Gravatar. Been thinking about this for ages, the recent article on the WPTavern has pushed me to actually build it. I've never liked the designs of Identicon, monsterID, Wavatar etc - and they all get served through Gravatar dot com anyway. This runs entirely in browser (with javascript) - so no external requests (privacy) and less data to download (speed).
