This story happened when I was 19, and I had just started working as a dogsled guide in Alaska.

Today we got a text from our closest neighbors, a quarter mile away. There was a dog in their front yard, and they wondered if it was ours. They thought maybe it couldn’t see well? Naturally, we ran over to the garden—and sure enough, Hari was missing.
