TWITTER IS NOT REALITY

YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO READ POLLS

Do I have to spoon feed you children information???

Fine. A thread. ARIZONA

Under 1% of Voters from Arizona consider "The Middle East/Israel/Palestinians" their top issue

Only 3% of Voters ages 18-29 consider it their top issue

Voters support Israel over Palestine by a 2.14:1 ratio

Ok fuck it we’re doing a shooting break down thread 1. We need to understand some basic legal theory

First, it’s not a crime to have a gun in hand when answering your door

Second, the court’s justification for police shootings is whether the officer is in reasonable fear for his life or others

So they're actually going to her house because of posts she made concerning the conflict in Palestine

but... because right-wing alt media has *zero* capacity for critical analysis, they watched 10 seconds of the clip and assumed it was criticism of Biden

so far at 15K likes: so now we have to deal with tens of thousands of people having zero fucking clue what this incident is actually about

this is the only website where you can watch people get upset that someone was arrested, despite "not being found guilty"... before their trial even happened

anyways, it's nice to see Trump's legal team is on twitter
Image this appears to be for an arrest warrant out of the UK... also for sex crimes

meanwhile their romanian case is still pending

i haven't seen the episode and will refrain from longer comments until I do, but... one point

top on the list of evil things Clarence Thomas has done is... "roll back federal regulations"

...

somebody explain to me why Gen X liberals have a fetish for massive regulatory states I see this a ton, it isn't even specific about *which* regulations there's just this background radiation assumption in his brain that more regulations = better, less regulations = worse

this entire theory of discourse is just brain rotting and i'm amazed it still exists

There is just a massive amount to dissect here, but it’s astounding how much Carlson REALLY wants Putin to say that he invaded Ukraine because NATO expansion provoked him, but Putin instead insists on continuing his diatribe on Russian irredentism and how Ukraine belongs to them I’m only half an hour in and I doubt it will get brought up as it neither serves Tucker nor Putin to mention it, but here’s the 1991 referendum on Ukrainian statehood

And here is 2019’s Zelensky election win, in which the “territories belonging to Russia” voted for him en masse

Way too many libs have entered the circle jerk in the quote tweets of this one dumb image.

You'd be hard-pressed to walk into the Vatican and find "liberal" painters' works by any modern sense of the word. Your favorite 17th-18th century composer was probably a devout Christian You can't look at Tolkien's views on monarchism and religion and not come a way with a sense of some form of political ethic far off from Burke's conservatism

Whether it's in paintings, music or art, plenty of conservative leaning people have left their mark on culture

I found the full video of the Jordan Neely incident, which does not show the lead-up, courtesy of Luces de Nuevo York Facebook

fb.watch/kiHL1f8tMy/?mi…

First and second parts posted here - consider this your content warning, but there are important details in this video 1. the strange claim that this man was choked out for 15 minutes while unconscious appears to be entirely false

Around 2:20 of the 3:47 long video an unidentified African American Male assisting in restraining Jordan Neely tells a concerned bystander “he’s not squeezing anymore”

Does anyone have the full video of the Jordan Neely incident? NYT is claiming there’s a 4 minute video circulating but I’ve only seen the 45 second clip

web.archive.org/web/2023050318…

This is coming amidst mixed reports of what led up to the encounter Image Im not exactly trusting of the media and is kinda like to see the facts myself but I can’t find this anywhere

Instead of basing my entire opinion off of a NYP piece and a 40 second video, I’m going to wait until the facts come out

Because already, some reports are saying he had started to throw things at commuters and issue threats

nydailynews.com/new-york/nyc-c… It’s also important to know that within the report Idrees cites, it mentions the man yelling “I don’t care if I go back to jail”

I’d really like to see the full circumstances of the encounter instead of jumping to conclusions

Covid Vaccine/Pregnancy fact check thread

I know Naomi Wolf is low-hanging fruit, but I'm sick of these misinformation campaigns.

I'll also link the actual document, since I'm not a hack like her

check pg. 2 for this:

phmpt.org/pfizers-docume… (source)

Image The first thing to know: these are all self reported cases. So, if a pregnant woman gets the vaccination, and has no problems... they very likely won't make a case report on it.

As of February 2021, only 673 reports existed

How many total pregnant women were vaccinated? Image

English is a hybrid Germanic/Latin language with the world’s largest vocabulary, yet is also easily accessible and a universal mainstay of literature and science

If I could only know one language and one language only, English absolutely would be it Don’t get me wrong, it’s fun being multilingual! And you will get a different insight on some things… Ding Loren the new world champion had commented during his match that talking with Rapport (his second) in English made him think about positions differently

I’m certainly not a pro-lifer but can we *please* stop this game where we pretend like we can’t understand that by choosing a week, cons aren’t going back on “abortion is murder” but believe they can’t get their goals passed and are willing to compromise so as to get *anything*? Like just as a general rule I like to steel man arguments when I address them (most because it makes me look like less of an idiot)

These talking points just come off as lazy

This is why old people still yell about gas only costing a few bucks “back in my day”

It’s all about price levels, but people don’t want to hear that: they want to be upset.

Right now things are slowly getting better ImageImage This is also incidentally a reaaaally bad sign for Republicans come 2024. If inflation does run itself out, and the economy continues to improve, their already non-existent economic platform looks like an even weaker sell

If they just run on culture war issues/

Here’s a great litmus test for conversations about healthcare - anyone who makes the claim that America’s lower life expectancy is linked to Healthcare you can immediately know has never actually studied the topic and can be dismissed sofort

Really nice way of sorting out cranks One good analysis is done by @rcafdm which can be found here:

randomcriticalanalysis.com/2017/05/16/the…

I’ve written about this myself: drug addiction and obesity are healthcare tangent, but obviously key social issues. Meanwhile car accidents also must be considered

So here it is, in blog format: a quick review of the "Veil of Darkness" study that supposedly proved police everywhere are entirely racist

I'll have a short thread to accompany it, but for details, click below

bluerepublik.wordpress.com/2023/03/30/the… First, the idea of the study is simple: when its dark, police can't tell who they're pulling over, so if they're pulling over few black people at night, it means they're discriminating during the day

The study used hundreds of millions of traffic stops as datapoints and/ ImageImageImage

for some reason the dumb Glass Onion movie is trending again

guys it's just not a good mystery movie. if you like a bunch of pop culture stuff crammed into 2 hours of an extremely tired plot go ahead, but i don't get what all the hype is about. it's very annoying to me that authors in the 1930s were a thousand times more creative and thoughtful in fleshing out new ideas and conceptions for mystery stories than today's authors (or scriptwriters)

in cinema or in print everything is just getting rehashed over and over/

i'm sorry but a right to... what? finish the fucking sentence

a right to burn random people's cars?

why the fuck is this just considered normal behavior now? how is it that the popular opinion now is that rioting is good? this is also just misinformation

he is still under arrest, he is still being charged, they just don't have him in a genpop type holding

Tides, how do they work??? Tides for Ellis island vary up to 5-6 feet, so whereas estimated rise in tides on average is about 2 feet since 1900. As that increases, yes, people are currently looking into ways to protect the Statue of Liberty

LOTR trending and it's a bunch of people screaming about how the criticism is all racists who don't like black people

every character could be guatemalan nigerian and filipino and i'd watch it if there were good fucking story and dialogue and characters

TROP has none of that hundreds of soap operas have had better character relationships

TROP only spent any time at all on developing Galadriel, nobody else has any compelling character progression so far

even Game of Thrones had you more invested in throwaway characters who live and die in 2 episodes

Nakamura I can understand to some extent because he ranted 4 hours straight about it

but Carlsen putting out a tweet saying he's withdrawing with the mourinho "i'm not going to speak" meme, and Ian offhand saying the win was "more than impressive"

is disrespectful?

not at all if you think your opponent is cheating, that's about as respectful as you can be about it.

unless of course if the implication is that you never ever under any circumstance dare make an implication even of cheating... about someone who has been caught cheating before
