If you have been wondering what happened to Dave Johnson - author of NuTSR's "Star Frontiers New Genesis", documented racist, and all around nice guy - boy do we have some news for you. Earlier today, the DHSM posted this on Facebook, along with an Amazon link, for a book called "The Musings of Lord George the Younger, B. S. of D.".

If you can't read the footer, the photo is "Duke Justin of Wilmington". Yes, really.

OK, thread time... God help me. 🧵 First off, the product is only available as physical copies purchased through Amazon. I will be providing scanned snippets of the hardcopy where applicable.

OK, here we go boys and girls. This is going to take a while because it's a lot so strap in.

If you want to donate to my sanity, I have a KoFi: ko-fi.com/brainclouds

[1/x] First off, the setup... I received a notification that I had a package waiting for me at my PO Box. I wasn't expecting anything but it happens.

My PO Box is public record, easily found online. It's my corporate address for Darklight.

So I got a notification that there was a package for me at post office, which was unusual.

Package had no return address, had a North Carolina postmark, and... well... this was inside. ImageImageImage Just to prove this isn't Photoshop...

This is massive. I'd say around 300 pages, spiral bpund.

I'm having a harder time with "Heart of Fire" than I expected. The straight conversion from 4E to 5E is leading to a lot of encounters with a lot of hostiles (I've introduced minions to mitigate this somewhat). I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. In typical 4E fashion, every room was an "encounter", but it was reasonably balanced in 4E because math.

In 5E, this seems excessive... borderline lethal... because of resources. Image

Oh my god...

So, about the channel that this video was posted in. It has a few Mr Beast videos, including the one where they use his "tank" as an Uber and... oh dear...

Remember that "employees fighting in grits" video? Well it's not here, but he FILMED THE BEFORE AND AFTER PARTY, where one girl hoses down the other.

And it took them long enough... WotC files a preliminary injunction against NuTSR and holy shit this is like a hundred pages so Im gonna need time to process. Point of note... WotC is explicitly calling out the forthcoming SF:NG for "despicable content".

This merits a thread... [1/x] I will comment on the things that haven't already been commented on, and I'm not going to comment on every little thing because this document is 229 pages and I actually have shit to do.

Ne filing in the TSR vs WotC case... I'm not an attorney, but as far as I can tell this 11 page filing is mostly WotC calling TSR's claims bullshit. And in this filing they brought receipts, showing clearly they've continued using the logo they rightfully own, including screenshots direct from DTRPG/DM's Guild.

OK, boys and girls, I'm gonna bite the bullet and do a live review of NuTSR's first actual product... "The Cult of Abaddon" by @TheEvilDM (he has be blocked, by the way).

For the record, yes I bought this... So donations are welcome! ko-fi.com/brainclouds Image For the record, this is the version that is currently available on Lulu as a digital PDF. I'm honestly surprised it's available that way due to NuTSR's aversion to such modern technology. I imagine it's Vincent's doing posting it there and not LaNasa's.

OK, here we go, #Giantlands Book Three: "5th Age Index"

Part One (Spirits Guide) here:

Part Two (Keepers Guide) here:
If you're trying to channel a Volo-like narrator, it's not working.

OK, I have some time, so I'm going to start thread number two of #Giantlands, the "Keeper's Guide".

First thread on the "Spirit's Guide" is here:
James Ward did the foreword on the first book, but Ernie gets his chance here... which means we get a shameless plug and the physical address of the DHSM in the last paragraph.

OK, so here goes nothing... gonna do a full exploration of #Giantlands. God help me.

This might be a long thread. [1/∞] First off, some general comments...

I try not to criticize a product's price point usually, but $130 for this is honestly absurd.

Compare it to Invisible Sun, which has literally ten times the stuff in the box for $30 LESS.

They posted the "correct" list on Discord...

No. 7: "You become a skilled hunter guaranteed 1 kill per day."

Mechanically, how do you even do that in an RPG? I would immediately go out of my way to ensure the only fight I have in a day is the boss fight. I asked in the Discord, and I'm on the edge of my seat right now!

Wow... for $100 you can go to TSR Con and play in an 8 hour game with a DM you've never heard of.

And on day two you can pay $50 to have *that* guy be your DM. Oh and how did I miss day three's "sleazy" adventure?

In light of Parler getting hacked, I decided to attempt a deep technical dive of it to try and figure out how it was designed.

I did not get far.

Whoever made this site: (1) I hope you got paid really well, and (2) I hope no one hires you ever again. I had created an account on the site before, and I have already documented that horror of a user experience. twitter.com/i/events/12781…

Gotta say, flipping through TCoE... it's a really pretty book. I gotta ask... How many people have used puzzles like this in their games?

I personally love puzzles, and can't get enough of them in the ARG space, but I don't know about using them at the table. Maybe I have low expectations of my group's ability to solve them.

So apparently I had a very strange situation with a bank... In August of 2013, a checking account was apparently opened in my name in a bank I've never used and used for a few attempts at transfers or bounced checks. It only had the original deposit to open the account of $50, but after a few checks or transfers without funds, the negative balance grew to over $1000 in the red by November.

OK, so the third one has come up in conversation more than once, so maybe it's time I talk about it... This might be a long thread. Like six or seven years ago, I don't remember exactly how I got in contact with a guy but he wanted to create a big social networking site where, in his own words at the time, "lots of people could get together."
