@VABVOX A lot more. Apart from the evidence, there are huge risks in arresting him too soon including an end to the Jan 6 Committee. The Proud Boys lawyers are in court now arguing that they should have access to all the transcripts of the jan 6 committee. @VABVOX They are entitled to get all evidence the govt has that would help the defendant. PB lawyers are also arguing it is unfair to have the trial in DC while the committee is holding high profile hearings. It makes it hard to find a jury pool.

Joy Reid: Republicans are tying themselves in pretzels to point fingers at every thing but the gun msnbc.com/the-reidout/wa… via @msnbc It's easy to get them to show the country themselves with a few basic questions:
1. Arming teachers: Will they be required to wear body armor all day? If they aren't proteted isn't a shooter going to kill or injure the teacher and take their gun?

@erin Thanks for the post. They've gone much farther than most people realize. Ontario Health is a new Crown Corporation that will have total control over the health care budget. We will see more corporations like Telus acting as intermediary. They're already a big player. @erin The majority of the Board are corporate CEOs, including some who spent time in the US corp. There is a physician on the board who used to work with the Group that provides physician malpractice insurance. They run up bills so patients can't afford to sue.

@DrEricDing @Chaela1982 @PeterHotez @mehdirhasan @MehdiHasanShow Long Covid and post infection complications should be part of daily briefings and media updates. Mask v mild infection and mask v disability, serious complications are very different discussions. We are being asked to rely on advice without full info. @DrEricDing @Chaela1982 @PeterHotez @mehdirhasan @MehdiHasanShow I started working on health and disability law and policy during the early days of the AIDs epidemic through CFS/ME What's coming next in Covid is huge and the public has no idea. My short list:

Trudeau's speech tonight in Parliament during an emergency debate on the convoy. A court injunction this afternoon banned honking for 10 days. The judge said honking wasn't speech to convey an idea.
The mayor declared a state of emergency! Gingrich, Dr Santis and a move by the far right leadership candidate for the Conservative Party of Canada to hire a new US-linked campaign manager seems to have galavanized opposition in the CPC

@loscharlos I worked as a disability rights lawyer during the early days of the AIDS epidemic through the fight over ME/CFS. I also have a very rare genetic condition. The pattern is predictable. I would add one more reason to your lists - media @loscharlos They are still using the same metrics and experts used in the early days. They need to bring in different experts, talk about different metrics. It is harder for them than most stories because they share the fears about Covid but are privileged enough to avoid the next stage.

@gmbutts @IshatReza It's time to fight back. The antivaxxer extremists were recruited and radicalized by US anti govt extremists groups who saw Covid as a way for white supremacists to take control of the govt. This was an early warning that was ignored. splcenter.org/hatewatch/2020… @gmbutts @IshatReza They have taken over state parties. Bundy is now running for Gov of Idaho. He wants to replace the police with extremist militia. The CPC is at risk of becoming the GOP north. They will take over riding associations and try to control the leadership race

@stuartpstevens @jaysbookman When do people understand that saving democracy is our job? No single law or indictment will be the magic solution. They're part of the solution but it won't work unless we are engaging on the ground @stuartpstevens @jaysbookman We have enough evidence of an ongoing coup to make life hard for the corporations still funding it. A few Letters to CEOs with a mocked up ad of McCarthy with his arms around Gosar and Gaetz with a banner "Brought to you by (insert donor name) should get their attention

@PalmerReport Most people agree but may not say it. I want to suggest a slightly different solution that doesn't involve shouting. Step 1 understamd that elections are the beginning, not the end of engagement. It takes real engagement with voters to build support for policies and programs @PalmerReport Politics is not a spectator sport despite the media's attempt to treat it as one. It's alot easier to talk about problems without spending the effort to look for solutions. The post election period is the beginning of the real campaign to get the policies in place.

@IshatReza It's incredibly dangerous. It's not about Covid. Vaccine mandates, masks, lockdowns are all set by Ford. We don't see any signs they're going after him. Some of the protestors may believe that's why they're there, the leaders of the extremist groups use it to recruit. @IshatReza If the media fall into the same trap as US media did in 2016 we're in trouble. First they were described as the forgotten people that were left behind. In reality the movements are being funded by billionaires who are power-hungry and conspiracy theorists.

@below_level @brodiefenlon @cbcradio @CBCdsouza The short answer - Ontario's Premier Ford visited his friend Gov Abbott in Texas in Jan. He uses the GOP playbook, lie, create chaos, reward your friends, blame someone else. Ontario got the numbers way down in the summer. For the 1st phase Prime Minister Trudeau ran the show @below_level @brodiefenlon @cbcradio @CBCdsouza The provinces are in charge of health, education, etc. When Ford retook control in the fall the schools were open for in-person learning, Toronto had a few new cases every day. Then the 2nd wave started. Canadian Thanksgiving is in Oct.

@TheLeadCNN @piya @paulanewtonCNN You've conflated 2 stories. There is less vaccine supply. Like the rest of the world, countries must compete with the US. It's not just about supply. In Canada right now the provinces are either doing very well or it's a disaster. @TheLeadCNN @piya @paulanewtonCNN I'm a dual citizen. My family is in Fla and Texas so I know how bad it can get. Ontario and Alberta are led by right-wing populist Premiers who don't like the measures. Ontario's Premier Ford is incompetent. He has created a chaotic vaccine rollout.

@jaketapper The first page of the Georgia law is full of signs that they are acting in bad faith. They frequently refer to the need to address the loss of voter confidence n the 2020 election and to make the laws "uniform". @jaketapper If their goal is really about voter confidence Kemp would reopen the legislature, hold hearings and amend the law. The statements by corporations and the strong concerns of voters make it clear the law doesn't have the confidence of Georgia voters.

Democracy 101 Making it harder to vote isn't an issue of culture, it's based on a lie that led to a violent insurrection. It's about HR 1 and HR 4. If Florida passed a law that let everyone vote but TV pundits would you think it's ok because it's not bad? Why do you get to decide for the people who see new barriers to voting that they are stupid to call for a boycott because they may lose money?

@MaddowBlog The media and Dems have 3 choices in their response to the Parliamentarians' ruling on the minimum wage increase.
1. Declare defeat before the battle starts. That is how the media are covering it. 2. Treat it as a call to arms to pressure the Senate to end the filibuster. Thi s is in an inside Washington story that shows the GOP they can exert power even in the minority. Getting public support for ending the filibuster right now is how losers respond.

@FPWellman When will the CEOs that have been paying to play at Trump's properties realize that Trump will be investigated and the investigation will include deep dives at his clubs. That's where he made phone calls, met with people behind the walls, and possibly accepted foreign money. @FPWellman They will be asked if they talked to Trump or knew about his plans. The RNC will also be asked about using lies and incitement to violence as fundraising. The longer Trump resists, the more likely they get swept in.

@NormOrnstein Don't discount the grip the extremists have on the Senate and House. McConnell is the only leader who can't control his caucus. Every time one of the Rs criticized the plan to object more Senators joined Hawley. @NormOrnstein You have the president pro tem of the Pa Senate doing what Trump is asking Pence to do. He refused to swear in or even call the name of a Democratic Senator even though his win was certified. The police escorted the Dem Lt. Gov out of the chamber.

@BradMossEsq Every pundit talking about the Senate starts with the automatic statement that the GOP will block Biden. Right now McConnell is the weakest leader in Congress. He was unable to stop the kamikaze mission by 12 Senators @BradMossEsq The GOP are in the grip of the extremists. The new Colorado member of the House announced she is going to carry her Glock around Washington even though it's illegal. Trump used the extremists to primary the candidates he didn't like. .

@emily_fri @chrissyfarr Finally. America is so intent on pretending we're close to turning back the clock that the country isn't preparing for the future. I spent many years working on disability and health law and policy. As a dual citizen, living in Canada I know how bad things are about to get. @emily_fri @chrissyfarr All if my family live in the US, 4 working as health professionals. Living this pandemic in 2 countries is a challenge. The to do list for Congress is long
- start now to provide support for mental health which will affect almost every American.
