I had the good fortune of pitching a studio during the last @Coverfly Pitch Week. It went as well as it could've (requested scripts and materials). Figured I'd share what I did that day, so it can help others score their own wins...

1/10 Research. The company. The people. Everything you can find. What have they previously made? What are they currently making? Do they have a mandate on their website (look for themes as well as subject matter)

Here’s a little thread on that experience, which will hopefully help you for your future pitches.

1/13 As soon as I found out who they were, and specifically who I was speaking with, I began my research.

What was the studio currently doing, and what had they previously done?

Ditto the people I was pitching to.

The key here is to find a connection between them and you.

Screenwriting, at least for me, is equal parts soul-fulfilling and terrifying. You bleed on the page, never quite knowing if it will connect with anyone.
